Vesper (2022)
Classic era sci-fi
I liked this film a lot,
first off, you have Vesper, who is a brave and smart little girl with
her drone, that is linked to her paralyzed father. They live in a ruined
world with a few others in the wilderness, surviving day by day. The rest of the humanity live in hi tech shelters called Citadels. The citadels have access to techs to save the world but they chose control instead. They create mindless slaves, so they dont have to deal with actual humans who struggle to stay alive outside. Vesper experiments on plant seeds that can survive the destroyed planet but she doesnt get any help until one day she finds an injured young woman in the forest. She takes her in and the rest would be spoiler but it all unfolds into a story that truly fits into the classic era sci-fi novels by Asimov, A. C. Clarke, in fact it would be truly fitting into the A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr. I read some reviews and the low point reviews are so mistaken in every aspect. I thought to myself, sci-fi is still not to everyone, so this piece must be protected, hence the review.
Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia (2009)
For COD:Modern Warfare fans only
Well, I managed to watch this movie on HBO2 this morning, an it was totally like a COD deathmatch. I think the other reviewers are all Colombian, but hey, the Colombian army in this movie is a well organized, deadly force. Come on, the Seals marines are on the run in the whole movie. Now, there were words about bad acting, bad effects, bad filming technique, bad direction, bad dialogues. I must tell, that none of these are present. Acting: the three Seals are good. The dialogues have no problem at all. Alvaro, the enemy force leader is good as well. Effects: the explosions are not the best, but its OK. Weapons and Fight: They are all well done, All COD fans will have flashback. Highly recommended movie.
A nyomozó (2008)
Dexter Morgan would like this investigation
A Hungarian film noir at its best, nothing less. We have an half authist pathologist, Tibor Malkav, whose mother is dying in cancer, and a mysterious and dangerous looking stranger makes an offer to him: our wood-faced hero should assassinate an unknown man, and he gets the exact sum for his mother's medical treatment in Sweden. After completing the job, and with the money in the pocket, Tibor gets a letter from his victim, addressed to him, and the investigation begins... I cant write more without spoiling, but I assure you, that the whole storyline is crafted at this level, powering with unbelievable good acting. I assume that very well made English subtitling is needed for proper experience, according to the review with 1/10 point...
