Baby Driver (2017)
Fun heist movie
Baby Driver is a fun action movie from the perspective of the getaway driver. The movie uses its soundtrack with great effect to improve the story and for the audience to enjoy. I enjoyed all of the acts, but the movie is a slow burn. The third act is so action driven that it required the first 2 act's buildups to have a bigger effect. Although some may complain about the ending, I enjoyed it even if it felt rushed.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
Disappointing
This review contains spoilers.
Alien: Covenant is the indirect sequel to Prometheus. It tells the story of a crew that discovers the Engineer's homeworld.
Alien: Covenant is incredibly disappointing. It seemed that the writers disregarded all feedback regarding Prometheus and wrote a story driven by stupidity. The characters do many illogical things that break their own character's beliefs. Almost every scene is driven by characters being oblivious or willfully ignorant of the situation and past. It is for this reason this movie cannot be recommended.
Lost Highway (1997)
Strange and ambitious
This review contains spoilers.
Lost Highway is directed by David Lynch. The story follows a person that is seemingly harassed by someone recording him and his significant other. The main character is then framed for murder but morphs into another identity.
The story is incredibly odd and audiences that expect a standard story will be confused here. The movie does not ever explain itself and the events simply continue. This may be off putting to some but for audiences that are willing to accept the strangeness there is an interesting story here. The movie is perhaps too ambitious for itself but I would still recommend it.
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
Unique mystery
Mulholland Drive is a unique mystery movie directed by David Lynch. The movie is incredibly hypnotic with much of the visual contributing to a dream-like state. This is a positive in the movie's favor as it adds to the themes and setting of the movie. I highly recommend this movie to any audience looking for something different.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (2017)
Misplaced priorities
Battle royale being turned into a game concept is fine on its own and this game is a good rendition of the concept. However, making the game is horribly random with many deaths and situations being out of the players control. In addition this game is also incredibly buggy with the XBOX One version deserving special mention for how badly it is developed. I have never played a game that had such a massive player base with such few resources devoted to improving the game's performance.
