Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Chapters: Special 1 (2023)
The Rumbling
Chapter 1: The Rumbling
The first chapter of this episode absolutely improved on the source material in almost every single way. The apocalyptic atmosphere of The Rumbling and the story between Ramzi and Halil aren't censored at all. The sheer brutality and immense destruction of Eren's action are put on full display. This part of the chapter really sucks you in and makes you feel as if you're about to get crushed by a Colossal Titan as well. The animation is also top tier and MAPPA did an incredible job adapting panel for panel what was going on. Not only that the additional scenes of destruction are haunting. I also want to applaud the voice acting. Especially on Eren's part. The Freedom" panel is enhanced by both the amazing voice acting and soundtrack which makes the scene hold so much more weight. Also Hange's final battle scene is also improved upon. Her impact and sacrifice is way more detailed than in the manga and it makes much more sense. The choice of music is also a great call back to season 1. It's also one of the best animated scenes in the entire show.
Chapter 2: Sinners
This chapter isn't as good as the first but it is still amazing. The scene with the entire group chasing after kid Eren in the Paths is absolutely astonishing and beautiful. Every character had their moment to shine and it's basically panel for panel with the mango. You also get to see the reaction of the Eldians is Liberio and how they're desperately trying to find an airship to escape their impending doom. Unfortunately there are no airships because they have all been taken on a bomb run to try and kill Eren. In the manga this bombing sequence isn't really expanded upon but here in the anime it is done much better. The extended scenes of the Marleyan soldiers desperately trying to bomb the Colossal Titans is amazing and the animation for Eren's Attack Titan is also very well done. The soundtrack and where the chapter left off is great.
Conclusion:
Almost everything that was adapted in this epsiode was done as good or even better than the manga. If this is the type of consistent quality that is going to be delivered throughout these last chapters, then I would be more than happy to wait another 6-7 months for the next episode.
The Amazing World of Gumball: The Oracle (2015)
Amazing
This episode of TAWOG continues to be as witty as it is clever. The jokes land nearly every single time and their is something for everybody in this episode. You want suspense, well you have that. You want comedy, you have that. You want witty and fast paced dialogue that keeps you on your toes, you have that as well. I also like the not so subtle use of foreshadowing in this episode. It also builds Banana Joe's mom as not only an interesting but mysterious character to follow. Gumball continues to be a character that is as cynical as he is funny. I also really like how every decision Gumball makes in this episode leads to the exact opposite of what he wants. Although you as the viewer knows what is most likely going to happen by the end, it's a lot of fun finding out how exactly Gumball gets to that point. Episodes like this are what truly define shows like TAWOG, and cement them as some of the best animated content you can find.
