The Godfather (1972)
A masterpiece
A masterpiece
This is simply an absolute masterpiece. The Godfather is arguably the best gangster drama that sets the standards for future brilliant movies.
It's hard to describe how perfect this picture is, but I'll try.
Majestic cast
Literally in love with Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) and his perfect performance, as well as Al Pacino playing Micheal Corleone. At first, I was pretty triggered when I discovered that Coppola choose James Caan instead of De Niro for the role of Sonny Corleone, but after thinking about it, I realised that Sonny's character fits better the way the movie is.
A genius director
Made with finesse, style to spare and a director (Francis Ford Coppola) who elicits pitch-perfect performances from a talented cast, this is movie-making as it should be (Netflix, take notes). Useless to say that this is hands down the best gangster/mafia movie ever made.
Some famous quotes
"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse"
"Revenge is a dish best served cold"
"You talk about vengeance. Is vengeance going to bring your son back to you? Or my boy to me?"
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Expected more, but still a masterpiece
Incredible because there was no CGI and still did this movie (it was 1968). It's an important cinematographic masterpiece, this movie is literally the base for every sci-fi that came after. The film is divided by 4 different phases of life, all of this almost devoid of dialogues (in 1st and 4th completely) letting sound effects and music (my favorite thing about the movie) dominate the spectator. I interpret this with Douglas Trumbull (Star Trek) quote: "Stop talking for a while, and let it all flow".
I am ending this review by saying:
"Don't trust Chat GPT anymore".
"Why those hominis/monkeys were barking?"
"Which drug did Stanley Kubrick abused to create the last phase of the movie?
