A Law for Christmas (2023)
Positive reviews written by bots?
There are simply no redeeming qualities to be found in this movie. It's really bad, I'm sorry. The intent to convey a Christian Christmas message overshadows any efforts on the producers' side to construct a coherent and entertaining story. Some of the acting is pretty decent, but that's all.
Must say I find it really interesting how nearly all positive reviews read like they were written by the same person. Additionally, most of them are posted by accounts that have only reviewed this specific movie and appear to have been made at some point between October to November 2023. I suspect there's something fishy going on here...
Trixie Motel (2022)
An illusion of whimsy
While I do generally like the concept of Trixie Motel (both as a show and the actual motel), I find the show to feel very, very staged at moments. And while I'm aware this was probably a conscious stylistic and narrative decision from Trixie and her crew, it tends to cross over into awkward territory at times, ultimately bogging the show's flow and pace down.
The actual motel renovation on the other hand, is simply marvellous. The interior designer of the show is marvellous and a real joy to watch, and it's great seeing David get more screen-time. Trixie is hilarious as always, but this isn't her best representation on screen yet, mostly because her persona feels too staged here.
