Sea Patrol (2007)
A primer course on what not to do in the Navy
To start this is a very entertaining show, good characters and the stories are good. But just about everything they do is wrong.
Now some is accurate, such as not firing a boat until given permission. As for the rest, well it is really messed up. On many of the boardings they leave the boarded crew unattended while the ship's crew searches the vessel. They interfere with operations where they shouldn't. So far 2 seasons in, the worse episode was when terrorists took over the ship. Due mainly to the crews haphazard way of bringing them aboard, giving them a cursory inspection. After that fiasco the Captain should have been relieved of his command.
Overall a fun show, just realize it isn't accurate. I am watching this on Tubi.
Hee Haw (1969)
Great music and bad jokes
Yes the jokes are extremely corny and the acting in spots is bad, but it is the music that is the gem. Hee Haw introduced many to great country music and that is it's strength. Just re- watching Roy Clark sing "Peace in the Valley" is very emotional.
Hard Kill (2020)
98 minutes lost forever, that I will never get back
This movie is not good. The basic plot is that Bruce willis is a tech billioniare that hires some toughs to help him get his daughter back. It's basically 98 minutes of tough guys having an emotional moment, then fighting. The emotional tough guy scenes seem to go on forever and the action scenes make very little sense. The strangest thing is that the good guys knock out power to the building during daylight, then don night vision googles to fight the bad guys, with sunlight still streaming in the windows.
World War II: Witness to War (2017)
Good series with a basic review of WW2
Good series showing the history of world war 2. it may be too simple and basic for a history buff, but for someone looking for an introduction it is good.
Manifest (2018)
I really wanted to like this
An interesting premise, but after a good start it resorts to a weepy melodramatic soap opera. At least it did for as far as I got. Somehow if I found out I lost five years I wouldn't run around like an emotional whiny wreak.
Secret Army (1977)
Not as funny as 'Allo 'Allo
I have been a fan of allo allo for years and I have heard about this show. It is very good, showing life under the occupation in Belgium. But don't expect it to be light fare, it is very dramatic.
The series shows the cat and mouse game played by the resistance and the occupiers during the war, the stress level in each episode is palpable.
One doesn't know you are friends and enemies. My parents lived through the war in Norway and Sweden, they never really talked about it, except when my mother was stuck on the railway and train loads of German troops pulled into the station.
