The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Do not waste your time
I'm not sure why I came back to this show after a questionable Season 2, but I wish I never did.
This show always felt weird and quirky to me, with lack of substance, but at-least somewhat intriguing sci-fi entertainment with time travel elements. The latest Season however, cranked up the "quirkiness" up 1000% percent and removed any resemblance of meaning, depth, good storytelling, character development, exposition and cinematography. The whole season felt like a fever dream, like it was written by someone on shrooms. Couldn't sit through the end and finish it. Decided to spare myself from the humiliating torture.
During the first 5 episodes of S3 I thought maybe it's me who's not getting it. "Am I missing the point?" - I was asking myself almost every 10 minutes. But after checking the reviews I think my hunch was right - this is absolute garbage. Every character interaction, story arc and an emotional response ended in the most nonsensical unrealistic way. No like really I am convinced this plot is written by some new Netflix AI technology. About 20% of the scenes are complete lunacy and serve no purpose whatsoever, another 20% "buildup to" or try to explain the deranged events you're witnessing and the rest is jokes for teenage boys, bad writing and cheap looking CGI.
Under no circumstances would I ever recommend watching this for any reason. There is much better entertainment, there are better Sci-Fi movies, series and stories out there, and there are definitely just better ways to spend your precious time.
2/10 Serial Experiments Lain made more sense than this.
