Unforgettable experience.

I first watched this movie in a theatre. The D-day landing cinematography really takes you into the agony of the battle. Your heart rate goes up and the way those scenes were filmed is art. I don't know the filming techniques involved in this type of cinematography (later seen in other films/series like "Band of Brothers") but the reality level reached is top notch. As for the the actors, Tom Hanks delivers as always. The other actors are just ok, with the exception of Tom Sizemore who stands out, with his captivating acting (though it' s the same as in Black Hawk Down). The plot is generally poor and at some point becomes boring with pointless dialogues. So, 9 stars for redefining how a war film should be filmed, technically speaking.

Hidden Jem!

If you 've seen Goodfellas and The Casino and you liked them, then you 'll love this movie. It is filmed 15-20 years prior to these classic mob/gangster-movies and it is based solely on acting and plot. Because of similarities in the cast, you get the feeling that you are watching a prequel of Goodfellas! The low budget making of the film does not take away anything from the viewer's interest which is kept high throughout the whole movie. A big plus is the acting of Joe Cortese who plays extremely well and would make De Niro and the other gangsters of Goodfellas look like his subordinates. Bravo to Mr. Cortese, to the director and to everyone else contributing to this really enjoyable movie. This movie is also known as "Family Enforcer".

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best Charlie Sheen movies. Convincing both as an ordinary police officer and as a nervous wrecked undercover agent. The soundtrack fits in very well. The only flaw to the plot was the unjustified murder that Blood committed given the fact that Blood (Michael Madsen) was depicted as a really intelligent criminal.

Other than that, the movie is great!

Awesome movie.

So many things are amazing about this movie, starting with the soundtrack, which is probably the best soundtrack ever. Moving to the cast: Everyone fits perfectly to the story and some of them go beyond that, like James Earl Jones who plays a captivating Salsa Doom. Costumes, scenes, filming locations etc., it's like the people involved in this project, were so passionate about it and thought about every detail. And this passion pays off. An example, that just popped into my mind is the opening scene with Conan's father. I 've seen the movie dozens of times and still, this scene always takes me to that mountain, listening to Conan's father's words in awe. The acting/makeup/costume of William Smith with the background music really gives you chills! I doubt if a modern movie production could deliver such scenes despite the technnological advances in the industry.

BUT, reading the user's reviews I found a review called "The movie is a tribute to Eisenstein" which is very interesting (thank you, whoever wrote that review). So, I find it very sad that all those years I haven't seen one mainstream video or read one mainstream article, where the makers of the film give credit to the people who made "Aleksandr Nevskiy (1938)". Conan the Barbarian is clearly influenced by that movie.

All in all, a masterpiece. Flows like water, no need for 4K screen!
