Seinfeld: The Chinese Restaurant (1991)
Not so good
While Seinfeld is usually pretty funny and well written, this episode is not an example of that. I don't understand the praise it received here on IMDb.
Jerry, George and Elaine wait to get a table at a chinese restaurant. That's it. Nothing happens. In pretty much every other episode, something DOES happen. The Chinese Restaurant is nothing but meaningless talking. George is not as neurotic as usual (which is bad), and Jerry and Elaine are plain boring. Kramer is nowhere to be seen for some reason.
Some of the jokes here are completely absurd. They make no sense at all. Like when the manager of the restaurant yells "Cartwright!" instead of "George" when he gets a phone call. What's funny about that? It's utterly ridiculous. Making no sense may work in a show like Monty Python's Flying Circus, but Seinfeld is different. I expect things to make sense.
It's mildly entertaining, and that's it.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Gekitotsu!! Pawâ tai pawâ (1986)
A great episode
This episode is the best of the show up to this point. It's very well done in every way. It's exciting and a little tense.
Almost everything that's great about Dragon Ball is here. Good action sequences, humor and fun characters.
It provides a marvelous conclusion to the Tenkaichi tournament and it gives us the best fight of the show so far, and the ending of the first one that extends over multiple episodes.
It's hard not to like it if you enjoy the show. It's not absolutely brilliant, but it's a very good watch.
It's the first time I watch this episode and I'm excited to see what's next.
Community: Remedial Chaos Theory (2011)
The best episode of the show
This might be one of the greatest episodes television has ever seen. It's brilliant in every way. Fun and original, it's a perfect example of what this show could pull off.
In this episode, we see six alternate realities. Each one is missing a character, so things go in a different way each time. It's cleverly written so it all makes sense, while also not being predictable, boring or uninteresting. It's pace is excellent, and there are just so many hilarious and memorable moments.
I have to compliment the writers for their amazing job at this and the series as a whole.
I've never seen anything that remotely resembles this episode, before or since. It's marvelous.
