Kuroshitsuji (2008)
supernatural anime with a mixture of drama and comedy
This is a really good supernatural anime with a mix of drama and comedy. I started watching it out of boredom, but quickly got draw into it. The story revolves around about a boy of about 12 who is of noble heritage, Ciel and his butler Sebastian. As episodes go on you find out that Sebastian is in fact a demon, and Ciel made a contract with him, thus when the contract comes to a conclusion Sebastian will have his soul. But after watching a few episodes you get a feeling that Sebastian perhaps in some way cares for Ciel, who is his master fro duration of the contract and Sebastian bound to whatever he is told and to protect Ciel fro any harm. Sebastian is talented in many ways, he is strong, fast, smart and so on, for obvious reason he is a demon after all. He's catch phrase "I am one hell of the butler". The anime is set in the Victorian England, and there is a strong emphasis on English loving their tea time, which I found so fun because it is true. There are supernatural characters apart from the demon butler, such as the reaper and Devil/demon dog. The characters that bring humour to the series are the household servants of Ciel, Finny the gardener, Meirin the maid and Bardroy or Bard the cook, who seem to be clueless to the fact that Sebastian is a demon. There is also Elizabeth/Lizzy Ciels' fiancé who loves him very much and wants nothing but to make him happy. First impression, after a couple of episodes Ciel seemed like an arrogant brat, but after a while you begin to get a real feel of his character. He is a sad and angry boy, who not only lost both of his parents (and later in the show his aunt), but also gone through a lot. As they show a few glimpses that he was tortured profoundly in a some sort of ritual. SO a guess you begin to understand his anger and complete disregard for his own life, and the fact that in a wholehearted consumption of revenge he sold his sole in order to obtain the power necessary to find and carry out revenge on those who done him wrong. This gives the anime a dark note, and there are many sad moments, but nonetheless there are tones of comedy there, and I find it has great balance between them.
Tonagura! (2006)
funny
This show is about four childhood friends and neighbours Kazuki, Yuuji, Kazuki's older sister Hatsune and Yuuji's sister Marie. But really it is more about the relationship between Kazuki and Yuuji. The four of them have been friends a long time ago and 10 years has gone past since they seen each other. For the duration of this 10 years Kazuki kept on thinking about Yuuji as this perfect person and her first love, always regretting that she never got to say anything to him before he and his family had to move away. So hearing that he and his family moving back to their old house rose up her spirits that everything will be like it was in the past. But turns out Yuuji is nothing like she remembers, not only he is all grown up (obviously!) but like many boys his age obsessed with what you can call in a more polite manner female anatomy. She finds him perverted, but has to live with it for a time being since both of their parents went off on a long trip, and it was her and her sisters to look after Yuuji and Marie.
I won't give this show a perfect score, but I did feel that I should say a few words about it. It is a nice anime about friendship and family. And has a lot of funny moments. In particular I enjoyed Marie character, when her brother gets too perverted and start acting all ecchi, she felt it was her responsibility to stop him and she did that by shooting paintball gun at Yuuji, the gun which she keeps hidden in her teddy bear. Also Yuuji behaviour towards Kazuki is hilarious. But they do flash a lot of panties and focus a lot on breasts and such in the show, which for most part I thought was pointless or inappropriate, maybe that brought it down for me.
But for me definitely worth 7/10

light-hearted and witty
At first when I watched this anime because I was bored. After the first couple of episodes, my first thoughts were, this is so weired. Nose bleeds, the dazzling creature theme and the talking medical mannequin....
But ones you get past that and carry on watching the show, it really begins to grow on you. Not only it is charming in its own way, but it is really funny. The storyline is silly but the I guess that is the whole point. It revolves around five main characters four beautiful guys and one strange Gothic girl, with them trying to make her into a lady, which is not really the point, they just trying to boost her confidence after she had an unfortunate experience with the boy she liked when she was in junior high school who called her ugly when she confessed her love for him. Along the way the characters become attached to each other, one of the best things within the show is when someone tries to harm the four boys who are in charge of looking after Nakahara Sunako (the gloomy girl), she transforms into this amazing but-kicking ninja.
It is light-hearted and witty, if you are looking for a good laugh this show is for you.
