First Kill: First Betrayal (2022)
Netflix Strikes Again
Was I expecting a cliffhanger on the last episode? Yes, yes I did. Was I tired of seeing it when I did? Obviously. It isn't really surprising that Netflix went this route and if the assurance of a second season is given, the cliffhanger ending may actually stand. BUT, the thing with netflix is they don't stick with film integrity and more to "which ones give more money". Alas, a second season is necessary if the plot is supposed to make sense. That ending standing alone on itself? Very weak. I hope this show gets renewed.
First Kill: First Goodbye (2022)
Theo and Apollo
Admittedly I'm not huge on Apollo and Theo's characters, I expect more complexity or build up from it. Elinor obviously carries her role once again and surprisingly together they're actually amazing. The bathroom fight scene is well put out and Apollo actually was able to show more of his character on this one.
First Kill: First Severing (2022)
ELINOR FAIRMONT
Gracie Dzeiney playing Elinor Fairmont easily steals the spotlight and perfects her role. Her character is amazing. Gracie's acting is amazing. And despite the morality of it, Elinor is easily one of the best frontliners of the show.
First Kill: First Love (2022)
Ben highlight
The Ben scene in the lockers is amazing. The CGI I still have complaints for (@ netflix) but the story flow itself is beautiful. I appreciate each effort to highlight each actor's capability to play their role.
First Kill: First Date (2022)
Just Cal and Jules
This episode show cased the more romantic relationship side of the story than the thriller action part. The spotlight for Cal and Jules's relationship is amazing.
First Kill: First Fight (2022)
Side characters leads this ep
The side characters (Juliette and Cal's families, Ben, the other hunters) CARRIED this EP. I still love seeing Calliette on screen but seeing the scenes the second characters did for this ep is amazing. Also Oliver? Huh.
First Kill: First Blood (2022)
2000s-esque approach 10/10
The 2000s teen vampire flick approach is really working on me. I love that they continue to establish it well into the second episode. Also Cal's family? Amazing. We love to see a blended Black warrior family.
First Kill: First Kiss (2022)
THAT WAS SO GAy
Obviously I expected it to be very gay considering it was already established beforehand but I didn't expect "very first scene kiss scene between two lesbian protagonist montage" gay
I know slow burn is huge in sapphic media but I really do appreciate a straight forward approach between the lesbian romance leads.
First Kill (2022)
Love Moderately
I love the 2000s teen flick approach on this. No matter what people say about that, I will stand by it. It's a teen vampire flick, it's only appropriate for it to pay homage to its successors. The hunter and prey trope is amazing, the lesbian pining approach is amazing. "It's a cliche trope" of course it is, it's a teen flick.
However the spotlight was immediately stolen by three amazing female characters holding the foundations of this show; Elinor, Talia, and Margot. Their characters, the complexities, and the actors themselves give this such a perfect mix for the whole plot.
Can't wait for season 2 AND these three characters.
Killing Eve: Hello, Losers (2022)
Absolute Betrayal
It was already absurd how much Christian symbolism there is towards this build up and up till the end (i.e. "angel wings") but what's more absurd is how badly said "writers" try to embody said "tones" of the finale. "It's like there's a triumph in the scream"? That Villanelle's death is the catalyst to Eve's rebirth? Congratulations on completely butchering three years - three whole seasons of build up just to make a complete 180° turn and misinterpret the entire premise of the show. Way to butcher a franchise.
