La cocinera de Castamar (2021)
Nothing much of note except a very problematic sex scene
Setting aside the other issues in this show, such as the annoyingly hazy cinematography and introduction of too many subplots and characters introduced within the first ten minutes, we must address the bedroom rape scene in the first episode that the producers wanted the audience to believe was a seduction scene. It was not. It was a blatant, backward, misogynistic assault scene that has not been seen in the US since the 60s James
Bond movies. The idea that women really do want to have sex if you can get past their fighting you about is so alarming that I have to wonder if women in Spain are still dealing with date rape culture in 2022. It is flabbergasting that Netflix saw this and decided not to delete it. Seduction is NOT rape. There are many ways that the writers could have handled this. They could have just watched Dangerous Liaisons to see how. Badly done, Netflix, for condoning this.
Mighty Cruise Ships (2014)
Hour long infomercial
This show isn't unbiased look at cruise lines, it is an hour long infomercial for each cruise line they feature. They take you "behind the scenes" to show how each dept works and how they handle issues, some of which is most likely scripted. The worst ones are the ones that feature Royal Caribbean. They gush over this cruise line and it feels like the Royal Caribbean guest info/infomercial video playing 24-7 on their guest room TVs. Royal Caribbean is at best 4-10, so there is a distinct impression that they had to approve this episode before it aired. If you're good with a completely biased cruise line promotional show, then this is show for you. But if you're watching in the hopes that you can get some good info on a cruiseline you're considering, do yourself a favor and check review sites like Trip Advisor.
