Barry: starting now (2022)
Incredible Season Finale
Wow, this show never disappoints. While I stand by my opinion that episode 6 - 710N- is the best episode of the season, 'Starting Now' really got up there. Unlike many other and more renowned shows, Barry (this episode in particular), does not waste a second getting to the chase. In less than half an hour you experience, pitty, anxiety, stress, anger, fear, laughter, confusion and suspense, without realising any time has passed at all. It's also important to note the pace and simplicity of each scene, which keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and cuts away just after the titular moment, always leaving you wanting more. Everything from the editing, direction and subtext that this show incorporates is done perfectly and helps to create a style and vision that I personally, have never seen before. I can't wait for season 4 and I'm excited to rewatch this season to see all the details I missed.

What TV Should Be
710N is hands down one of the best episodes of this series. In less than 30 minutes, it masterfully incorporates and intertwines a variety of genres, from drama to comedy, and even dips it's toes into absurdity without losing any of its realness, like that seen in Ronnie/Lilly. The episode, from the outset, is encapsulating and not only is your attention held for its duration but your breath will be as well. By focusing less on characters and plot which are seen more in prior episodes in season 3, 710N provides needed breathing space, comic relief and action, which while unexpected, is not out of place in the central storyline. This episode is a masterpiece from every perspective, Hader's nuanced stylistic choices, editing and unique perspective on storytelling pulling it all together. It's what television should be.
