The Adam Project (2022)
Just a great bit of fun!!
I'm not much into the modern day style of sci-fi that relies on CGI and mind-blowing sound effects but I was minding my neighbour's 10 y/o youngster. A friend of his had recommended this movie so we went for it with the Dolby turned up.
It's exactly what it set out to be - a piece of enjoyable pure hokum with a bit of sentimentality included. You could have an hours fun afterwards picking out all the plot holes but why bother. The film never dragged at any stage and we both clapped at the end - not something I would normally do, I hasten to add :)
I'll be honest. I would never have watched this without having had a child in the house but, if you're childminding, I'd definitely recommend it as 100 minutes or so of great fun.
El faro de las orcas (2016)
One to really enjoy
I'm always on the lookout for those smaller budget movies that have characters worth caring about, beautiful cinematography, haunting music and a story that matters. This movie ticks all those boxes.
Everything about it was authentic and genuine. The music score blended in so well with the isolated and stunning landscape.
Highly recommended for people who like similar.
Mass (2021)
Glad I didn't give up on it!!
I was tempted to pull the plug after 10 minutes or so simply because I could not see any point in continuing bearing in mind that the early conversations appeared to be nothing more than the chit-chat that goes on in your local church hall on a weekly basis. However, something told me there had to be more to this so, luckily, I stuck with it.
Once the protagonists arrive, (very) gradually the viewer is led along until it is revealed what happened that brought about the situation the four characters now find themselves in.
From that point on the drama becomes more and more intense and the acting is nothing short of superb. You wonder if a resolution can ever be found.
Four people sitting talking in a room may not be to everybody's taste but I very much like "different" movies and this was one of those.
