The Haunting of Hill House: Silence Lay Steadily (2018)
Bittersweet ending for the Crain Family
As a horror lover, was not too satisfying for me but as I think of the real horror this family was going through, regrets, pain, sadness, longing, words unsaid and wounds hidden, I'd say this ending is well. Thinking of how lovely and happy they all were as children, but it is what it is as much as I sympathize with mother crain about wanting to "free them", life doesnt work that way and the ending is written well in that light.
The Haunting of Hill House: The Bent-Neck Lady (2018)
Tragic
Nell has always been the lil baby sister, and it just breaks my heart watching the episode as the rollercoster of a life unrolled before me. The ending was tragic in all ways. How the house and it's horror follower her and her family as a kid until she grew up, how all she ever wanted was a happy family, and well, that scary sad ending.
The Haunting of Hill House: Steven Sees a Ghost (2018)
Greatly done, specially as a pilot episode
Episode introduces the house, the horror of it, the characters, and the vibe of the show.
All I can say is as a picky series watcher, the first episodes laid it out deliciously, in a way that I want to know more about the sibling's pov, what really is the deal with the house, and what would happen further with that brilliant ending. Episode 1 got me hooked.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
A great horror/family drama, better as the latter to be honest
The whole show as a horror series did well, tho the first few episodes were especially more scarier than the last few ones. It got us thinking what actually is the deal with Hill House, and sometimes makes us think if there really is a deal with Hill House, or it's just as how Steve thinks it is.
For avid horror-lovers who watched the show for the horror, some parts specially the ending might leave you overwhelmed, but for viewers like me who watched it for the scary house and for the pitiful broken family of the Crains, it's an almost perfect show. I really rooted for this family, and the show made me cry more than it made me scared, and the ending somehow feels that it couldve been better, or detailed(?), but overall the story is original and it was really a good watch!
Well written characters and script, original plot, and nicely done cinematography. Definitely worth the watch.
