Defending Jacob: Visitors (2020)
Not much else to say
The story continues and it's still just as interesting as the previous episodes, it keeps moving, even if it's slower paced, it's definitely worth watching and I really wanna see where it goes after this!
Defending Jacob: Damage Control (2020)
Still excellent
Continues to be a great character focused thriller-mystery-drama with excellent stressful moments mixed with little nice moments that give you hope. Many subplots that are interesting but I'm afraid that they might not be expanded on later in the series but I hope I'm wrong.
Defending Jacob: Poker Faces (2020)
Getting even better!
This series is just becoming more tragic while still continuing to have hope for Jacob. This episode is even more dreary and reveals a lot of things and it is all done very well and has great characters. Apple TV+ absolutely has a banger here.
Defending Jacob: Everything Is Cool (2020)
Ramping up!
The show is still a slow burn but it really starts to ramp up and it's becoming very interesting. I'm used to Chris Evans playing his role now and it's honestly working for me. Characters are still great and there are some good turns in the story. Very interested to see what happens next!
Defending Jacob: Pilot (2020)
Interesting character driven slow burn!
Chris Evans in this role is a little weird but the show itself so far is interesting and I really like the characters. It keeps you interested and it moves slowly but it always feels like it's moving. The set up and mystery is a little derivative but its good enough and honestly not the quality I was expecting when I got Apple TV+
The Afterparty: Yasper (2022)
Good
I'm not a big fan of musicals so that's probably why this wasn't amazing for me but it was still fun and the musical scenes were still funny. They also consistently switched to current time and storytelling which made it flow better and not feel like they just tack on a random twist at the end of the episode.
The Afterparty: Brett (2022)
Major improvement!
Ok wow this episode is great. It's very clear that each episode is a different genre and it absolutely works. This one being an action movie is hilarious and it works better than the previous episode. Brett is a great character and there wasn't any annoying or mediocre comedy. I think there is still an issue with the tacked on discoveries of new information at the end of the episode that just feel half baked but I had a smile on my face the entire episode.
The Afterparty: Aniq (2022)
A lot to like, but some flaws
So far this episode shows that this series has potential, but it's held back by some things.
Decently funny, but some of the attempted comedy can be annoying or just average.
The mystery part so far isn't all that interesting and it's very silly and they barely attempt to flesh it out. It's still a good backing for a comedy show though and it works well enough.
I think the characters and concept are probably the best part so far, it seems each episode is focusing on one character and they tell the story in a different genre which has tons of potential. The characters are silly but they are fun, The detective characters are kind of annoying but Tiffany Haddish is a lot better after the first 20 minutes.
Overall I'm excited to see where the show leads to next, I think they could turn it around and make it pretty good. First episodes usually aren't the absolute best so I have hope.
Also the intro credits are really good.
Peacemaker: Monkey Dory (2022)
Fun and heartfelt!
The 5th episode is not as funny as the others, but it mostly makes up for it with the great emotional scenes that work better than the previous ones, the action is not as good but it's different and fun. This makes for a fun, heartfelt episode.
Peacemaker: The Choad Less Traveled (2022)
Improvements in some areas, new problems in others
This episode feels a little different from the previous 3, maybe because it's directed by a different person but it's still great. The action is the best so far, it's incredible. There are less funny parts but the few funny parts are really funny. Some emotional moments don't work for me and others do. I'm still very excited for the next episode though, vigilante keeps getting better and better also.
Peacemaker: Better Goff Dead (2022)
Just gets better
This one is even funnier and there's a lot more action in this one and it's surprising very good and fun. Every character just keeps getting better and none of them are dull.
Peacemaker: Best Friends, For Never (2022)
Even better
Even funnier than the first episode, the first 20 minutes is just excellent with great choreography and funny moments. Vigilante is pretty funny also. They do more to make you care about Peacemaker and honestly I think by the end of the show I might actually care about him.
Peacemaker: A Whole New Whirled (2022)
Great intro
This is a lot better than I expected, it's hilarious and actually has good action for a TV show, it actually still feels like The Suicide Squad. My only gripes is the eagle CGI is meh, some jokes don't land, and they try to make you care about peacemaker but it's not compelling enough yet for me to forget how he was basically a terrible person in The Suicide Squad; but maybe that will change in future episodes.
