In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)
I think the consensus is the same across the board.
Much like the other user that posted a comment on this movie, I saw this movie based solely on the fact that Jason Statham was in it. He is my favorite actor, and I try to see everything he is in.
Going in to this movie, I did not realize the king of horrible movies based on video games, Uwe Boll, was behind this. I guess I should have known better, but I didn't. Regardless, when I was watching the previews before the movie, and I saw the trailer for his upcoming debacle known as "Postal", I knew I was doomed.
Uwe Boll is a horrible, horrible person. Why he intentionally punishes the movie-going audience with garbage like this is beyond me.
I recall reading in "X-Box Magazine" a quote from an interview he did. Boll basically went on about how he was angering everyone in the video game community, and how he would continue to make horrible movies just to show people that their opinions don't matter to him, including a 3-picture deal that included "Postal".
Why? Why would you intentionally want to aggravate so many people, especially when it costs money to make these horrible films, and you end up losing money when so few people see them? Even with these movies for sale on DVD, I can guarantee they're not selling. I have seen copies of "Alone in the Dark" and "House of the Dead" in $5.00 dump bins at Wal-Mart, and even then, they don't sell.
People are calling Uwe Boll the "Modern Day Ed Wood", and while that is fitting, I'd almost say it's actually an insult to Ed Wood. Yes, Wood made horrible films, but I don't think he was such an arrogant jerk about it.
I mean, making movies just to tick people off. What kind of issues can a guy have to do that?
Halfway Home (2007)
A great new show.
I'm not sure exactly how this show can be construed as offensive when the people that might/might not be trying to offend are represented on this show, and they all take shots at themselves repeatedly. Not only that, but look at the story lines (possible spoiler, if you haven't seen the show): How offended can you really get at a story that involves 4 guys who all accidentally take horse Viagra that they got off the internet? On a side note, it's nice to see Regan Burns (Allen) get a prominent role in a comedy series again. Even though it wasn't on for very long, I loved him as the host of "Oblivious" and was wondering when we might see him on another show. The rest of the cast is great, too, and kudos to Oscar Nunez for working on both this show and "The Office" (my favorite show).
