Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Feminized Vikings
An unfortunate but not unexpected version of Vikings for Netflix.
The original Vikings though not historically accurate did portray a much more accurate Viking lifestyle.
This one seems more geared towards the wine crowd, nothing wrong with that. Female warriors everywhere and identify boxes checked. Definitely solid for female empowerment.
There's some good cinema photography but overall I found this to be a bust. The story was boring and giving a whole episode in freya giving birth among with many things could be a hard pass.
I can't say much else as it became background noise or I started skimming through episodes.
Extraction 2 (2023)
A good ride for the most part
I was dubious at first since it was Caucasian male heavy doing all the fighting which isn't realistic though action sequences and camera follow along were very immersive and entertaining.
Eventually it became a little more realistic as ruthless cold hard killing females of color and caucasian showed up and started tossing around men 2-3 times their size and taking them out (that's equitable so it's realistic). Though I found it only to be about 20% of the fighters which doesn't really reflect todays armies and special forces which are female dominated doing the heavy fighting. If they pumped those numbers up in the movie it would be a little more believable.
Otherwise, it was a good ride.
Stowaway (2021)
Good visual effects!
Fun start and ride at the beginning, not very clear they Mars bound but figured it out.
How they justified someone being drilled into the life support system and forgotten about is somehow a stretch for me and so that kinda dropped the score.
Somewhat interesting decision making on who's life must come to an end for the rest to survive. Probably the best scene where 'there is no easy way to say this....'
Producers sure made a point not to include any reference of Caucasian males, even in the pictures they kept to white man out, so check in the box.
Visual effects were good fun, but overall the movie was rough.
You People (2023)
Not any fun
Couldn't finish the movie and shut it off. Started off with a bit of humorous dialogue but then felt like a big Hollywood speech on racism from their perspective.
Jonah Hill generally puts out good material but this became painful to watch. Eddie Murphy acted well but his character was a dud.
I suppose the message being passed along by Hollywood is America is beyond repair and full of racism even though the country is welcome to any skin of color.
Not sure where the basketball scene was trying to go, I suppose it goes to white men can jump and play ball against a sport that is black in nature.
Bullet Train (2022)
Wait, that wasn't woke...
... and what a relief.
Great ride. Entertaining from beginning to end :)
Fun, entertaining, action, solid chuckles, and good side stories to fill in the movie.
I enjoyed all the characters and how they fit into the story. Brits were probably the most fun for me. Brad brought respectful acting to the screen. Twists and turns made for a entertaining couple hours. Fighting scenes were well done.
If I were to critique anything it would be the blue screen of the Bullet Train. That was a bit of a bust, but not a deal breaker. Can't win them all.
Not very often we get to avoid a Hollywoke lecture in theatre's. It was a nice break.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Had such hope for Star Trek to pull it together.
I thought this series was going to pull it together. They did such a good job with Pike on Discovery but decided to put a strong male character in the background to focus on a pretty much all female crew being the saviors and what is with the navigator ( assuming trans? )being such an insubordinate cocky brat on the bridge of a flagship. I suppose it's to strengthen the LBQT + community.
The camera zooming out on the bridge and holding for a few seconds to reinforce that there are more females then men, sigh.
I would love to see it focus on a good story complimented by a strong well rounded crew that works seamlessly together but I fear it will be lost to hit the checkboxes of diversity, inclusion and equity.
Season finale was solid.
Prey (2022)
Reasonably entertaining
Fun special effects with a view from a different culture.
It turns out that it's not only Caucasian males that oppress women and everyone else, looks like Natives did as well since she wanted to 'prove' herself in a man's world and has to stay behind while the men went out. Odd Hollywoke allowed that in.
Nevertheless, overall it's a typical Hollywood movie of a hard hitting female warrior hero...getting repetitive and boring.
The Orville (2017)
It was entertaining and fun and then...
And then it went woke. I liked the show because it was entertaining and one could relax and enjoy the adventure. Now it's Transgender lectures, racism and women in power. The usual stuff these days, the first 2 seasons were good, now it's boring.
Naked and Afraid XL (2015)
Good fun
I like it overall but I've noticed in the last season the special emphasis on 'Fisher-WOMAN' and the show really puts as much effort into going woke. It's edited at least lately to make it as gender neutral and beyond politically correct which kind makes you question the actual surviving.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Obi-On the Run- Kenobi
Meh - the ol young girl under a rain coat trick didn't work out in an imperial fortress.. imagine that.
Caucasian male that the show is made for plays a secondary role as beat up and scared.
Thankfully there is more then enough girl power that saves everyone because they are hero's and fearless.... Yawn.
Yes, 'woke' beat out the storyline and character development once again which is normal now.
I can't see it getting much better :(
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Season 1 Fun. Season 2 Woke.
Season 1 was good fun with recurring characters. Story was good for the most part. Season 2 started pretty cheesy and dominated with female characters pushing males away, typical for TV these days but it pushes woke as usual over storyline. Hope it gets better.
Space Force (2020)
Generally good fun but...
I get a few laughs per episode so it keeps me watching. Thankful for the addition of a LGBTTTQQIAA character in season 2. I almost forgot the community existed (yikes) and Hollywood woke made sure to remind me how Caucasian males oppress them on a daily basis.
Bel-Air (2022)
More forced woke
Hopefully just the first episode, but oh my. Cringe at best. I suppose enough of a gap from the original series (great series) that most won't connect with.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
That was a bust.
I'd say it was horrible but since it's all hard hitting female warriors it's woke enough that I have no choice but to say it was great.
Lacked just about everything, lots of CGI. T2 is tops.
