The Godfather (1972)
THERE IS A REASON THIS MOVIE IS CONSIDERED THE BEST
Over 50 years ago, Francis Ford Coppola made "The Godfather" which has since changed movies forever. It's beautiful and tragic story makes it a must watch for all film lovers.
While it may not be the most accurate portrayal of the mafia, The Godfather plays out like a modern version of a Greek Tragedy.
We learn about Vito Corleone, a family loving and feared Don. We learn that his youngest Michael avoids this life, as he doesn't want to be apart of it. Throughout the movie we watch as Vito falls and how Michael must follow his destiny even though he doesn't want to. The character development from Michael is probably the greatest in movie history and Al Pacino beautifully portrays Michael from an honest kind-hearted guy to the complete opposite.
If you never seen this movie then this is your homework.
