Come Dine with Me (2005)
Dave Lamb makes the show
Come Dine With Me, a staple of British and Irish TV screens during dinner time. Some of the memorable TV moments came from CDWM. It must be said, the show would just not be what it is without Dave Lamb, the voice-over host/narrator. His dry-wit always delivers a chuckle.
The format is simple but very fun, and all the recipes are put up on the channel's website (for better or worse!) I used to watch this show all the time as a kid, and I put that down to Lamb. One of the first meals I cooked was an Indian curry dish I saw on the show. If you're ever flicking through the channels, it's worth a stop at CDWM.
Batman (1989)
One of the almost perfect films
When it comes to the superhero genre, it still doesn't get much better than Batman 1989. I remember a lot of folks were unhappy that the relatively (then) unknown Tim Burton was picked as the director but boy were they wrong. He took the campy pow-wow Batman we were used to (which is still super fun) and revolutionised the genre, making it darker, more cerebral, and soaked in an atmosphere only Burton can really deliver. I loved this film and would happily watch it again and again in the future. The casting was perfect, the story was great, and the blueprint this film left for superhero films that followed can't be understated.
A Vigilante (2018)
Better than expected
I was a bit reluctant to give it a watch as I thought it would be another mindless Hollywood man-hating film, but thankfully I was wrong. It was a very good and truthful insight into the problem of domestic violence and abuse in general. The lead (Olivia Wilde) was very good. I haven't seen her act before, so look forward to checking out some of her other work. Some here are saying it was a bit slow to develop but I have to disagree with that, I'd say it was more of a slow-burn at times but overall the pacing was excellent. Overall, a good film, better than expected, and well worth a watch. Look forward to more from the cast.
Malevolence 3: Killer (2018)
If you like slasher films, especially 80s, you'll like it
I would have given it a 5.5 if I could, but since we round up here on IMDB I went with 6. Many of the commenters are right when they say it has strong "Halloween" vibes. Sure it's a bit cliche at times, but it's a slasher, and an homage to 80s slasher films, so that's to be expected. It's apart of the genre. I liked it in general. The acting was good and certainly better than most 80s slasher casts. Story was solid enough. And as someone who's always liked 80s horror it was nostalgic. People giving it a 1 are just trying to manipulate the rating in my opinion, and if you like 80s slasher films, I think you'll like it.
Captors (2020)
I thi
I think 4-5 is a fair score. The first thing I'd say, respectfully, is when the main character is supposed to be penniless, don't cast someone who's clearly had work done to their face. She's a decent actress don't get me wrong, but it really took me out of the film. People who have never had money don't have lip-fillers. That aside, I thought it was okay overall. Some parts were ridiculous. The script could've been better. But the premise was good. Some cliche moments will likely make your eyes roll. But if you like a thriller, and aren't expecting the next Silence of the Lambs, then this film is serviceable.
The Fanatic (2019)
Another film ridiculous underrated
The last two films I've watched have been rated int he 4's, but they're both 6's. Not sure the reason for this. Maybe it's the fact they're both horror-ish thrillers and non-horror-ish-thriller fans could be reviewing. I get it, it's a niche. But this film was good. Very entertaining. Great acting from all, which is the first thing that usually is terrible for films rated in the 4's. All the actors/actresses are great, and the story played out well. I spend a decent amount of time in LA so it was fun to see all the usual spots and whatnot. I would've given it a high 6 if it was available (6.7/6.8) but, given the current ratings, 6 it is.
The Artifice Girl (2022)
Gripping and great performances
Fantastic performances from every single actor and actress involves. Tatum Matthews was incredible. Her pitch, her inflections, her facial expressions, my goodness this was gripping. I would've nominated Matthews for an Oscar for this performance. I didn't expect the story to be so compelling but it kept me hooked, and left me with a lot of thoughts about our immediate future and the on-going advancements in A. I. Some parts of the film I thought one way, then said to myself it is A. I. then it took me in another direction. It was a very, very compelling story and performances. We'll no doubt see many more "AI" themed films but I think this one will take some topping.
Trust (2010)
A must watch
I watched this movie on a whim when I saw while flicking through something to watch on my streaming service. My goodness. This a must watch for parents, and a very, very good film on it's own. So many lines that you will resonate with, both as a young teen and as an adult, the story is so well woven but it's the dialogue between parent and child in the film that really makes it so realistic. I can't explain it without spoilers so I'll just leave it to the first time viewer but this a film that, despite being released in 2010, still has immense relevancy in this internet age, and really does a fantastic job in actually showing the realities of modern parent and child relationships vis-a-vie the internet.
Trafficked: A Parent's Worst Nightmare (2021)
Bad reviews are likely politically motivated
I'm not American but I can tell from other reviews that their "1 star" reviews are politically motived and due to the ethnicity of the characters, which is beyond ridiculous. Good and bad comes in all creeds and shades. The idea that films should not have certain groups play protagonists simply because of their skin colour is so regressive and nonsensical.
Some of the acting is very good, but some is bad. Some familiar faces from 90s films. Don't usually see a film that has both good and not-so-good actors in the cast. Maybe it was a budge thing. Some cliche moments, but overall the story ran well, developed at a nice pace.
PVT CHAT (2020)
Another film ruined by the modern Hollywood obsession
Not a bad film, but once again, Hollywood's latest obsession with needless sexually explicit content of the male variety (albeit with prop, no doubt) distracts from the story and the film itself. Could have benefited from a much better musical score (or, well, any, really). The acting isn't bad, especially from the supporting actors. I get what they were going for, but again the needless explicit content just takes away from it all and it's what the viewer is left with. Would likely have given it a 5 star review but the lacklustre choice of audio throughout and the explicit content both knocked off a star for me.
I Am Still Here (2017)
Important film
I'm a grown man who's seen plenty of drama films but this one hit a nerve with me. It made me angry, and I was wondering "what can I do to help trafficking victims?". Excellent acting by the child lead. Very hard watch at times, but it had me hooked to the end. If you're anything like me, it'll leave you feeling that our governments collectively need to a do a lot more to protect children from this evil of trafficking. And if that was the film makers goal, then it was a noble one and mission accomplished. Hopefully more people watch this film and are left with the same impression. Excellent film.
The Last Shift (2020)
Good, if predictable, film
This is apart of what is becoming somewhat of a cliche in film. Old, affable white man meet young streetwise black boy, with "unexpectedly" good results. That's just the beginning premise of the film. Overall, it was fun. Well acted. Right down the middle 5 for me. Look forward to seing more from the actors. Funny at points. Mostly a drama in my opinion. If you like films set

Starve (2014)
Fun film
Not sure why some folks are giving it a 1. It was a fun film, with surprisingly good actors/actress in the lead. As a horror fan, it's a bit cliche at times, but overall it was an entertaining watch. Not sure if it's how it was recorded but the quality isn't great (I tried on different platforms but all the same).
Knives Out (2019)
A lot of fun
Excellent acting from all involved, a very fun film, Craig and De Armas were fantastic. A thriller whodunit with plenty of comedy and drama. An entertaining watch!
Monster (2003)
Good film but ahistorical
The acting in the film is great, as you'd expect from Therone and Ricci, and if you can overlook the ahistorical nature of the biography of AW and her crimes, then you'll really enjoy it. I couldn't go above 5 because of the ahistorical presentation sadly.
Landmine Goes Click (2015)
Good, standard, thriller
If I hadn't seen as many films as I have, I probably would've given it a higher score. Not a bad film, some shocker moments, some very disturbing moments in my opinion, overall, if it's the genre you're into, you'll probably like it. 5 from me.
The Woodsman (2004)
Very emotional
I'm a grown man and this film brought a tear to my eye, as well as making me feel angry. I don't usually get emotionally invested in films these days, so I have to give it props. Disturbing premise, well acted, well developed. V.
Deep Water (2022)
Fun, if predictable film
I really enjoyed this. Ana De Armas is fantastic actress. Sure it's a little predictable, but that's not always a bad thing. Really good character development.
My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To (2020)
Fun watch
I enjoyed it. It was obvious what was happening but it still left a lot to the imagination re: the story. A modern twist on an old tale. Good acting also.
Fresh (2022)
Needlessly explicit, but good
It's definitely got 3rd wave feminist vibes. Woman trying to find a "good" man, can't because they're all terrible, then she finds a great guy, who also turns out to be terrible. Needless explicit erection scene. Good story, let down by this.
Sitter Cam (2014)
Very entertaining
India Eisley gives a great performance. Really liked this film. Lot of folks are given "it's been done" review, but I don't agree. The premise might have been done, but the story itself is unique and plays out very well.
No Exit (2022)
Great acting from the lead
This was an entertaining film, emotional also. It's my first time seeing the lead - Havana Rose Liu - and her acting was brilliant in it. Look forward to more from her. Quiet emotional film. I really enjoyed it!
Freeway (1996)
A classic of it's genre
Seen this film a few times. Always a fun watch. Some dark moments, some touching moments, and some great comedic deliveries from Reese Witherspoon. Well worth a watch!
Scream (2022)
It's fun, but nothing more
If you're a fan of the Scream franchise, you'll likely like it. I enjoyed it, fun film, plenty of tips of the hat to the franchise's style, it's a worthy addition to the series, but it's not going to recreate the wheel. Right down the middle 5/10 for me.
I.T. (2016)
A good run-of-the-mill film
If you're a fan of thrillers and are looking about for something to watch, this is a good shout. Entertaining film, well acted, but nothing to write home about. One of those films you'll enjoy but forget soon thereafter.
