Jeeves and Wooster: Lady Florence Craye Arrives in New York (or, the Once and Future Ex) (1993)
it's almost pure Wodehouse
The plot is pure Wodehouse, only it takes place in an English country estate, not NY and the theater. Also the whole Spindrift/Spinoza/Cheesewright is from Wodehouse
Sanditon (2019)
Just finished the 75 pages that Jane Austen wrote before her death
The mini-series diverges from the book on page one, where Charlotte does not single -handedly rescue the Parkers from the overturned carriage, she wasn't even there. It was farmers in the field, among them was Mr. Haywood. Charlotte first appears by name on page 12.
Tom and Mary Parker seem to be pretty much the same as in the series, Miss Lambe is talked of, but not yet appeared. Sidney, a man of 27-28 has just arrived in town and is much loved by the Parkers. The main characters seem to be Lady Denham, Sir Edward and Diana Parker. Diana is written with Jane's satirical hand and occupies a good deal of the narrative. . She talks a good talk about how ill she is, never sleeping or eating and needing to take to her bed, but she never does. She is seen mostly running around town poking her nose into thing, getting things wrong and being "helpful". It is she that brings Mrs. Griffiths and Miss Lambe into Sanditon, although she has got that wrong, believing them to be 2 different large families, and blames her friends for the error. One can only imagine what Jane Austen would have done with her. Susan Parker, another hypochondriac, is little seen as of yet, always fretting about Arthur's health. Mr. Davies seems to have given Diana, Susan's role and dropped Susan altogether.
Sir Edward (Esther is mentioned but not yet seen) is immediately disliked by Charlotte, who thinks his florid and idiotic prose is just silly. She does catch Clara and Sir Edward hidden away talking (ONLY talking) and thinks they are hiding something from Lady Denham, who is seen as selfish, bossy and miserly.. Old Stringer is mentioned in passing, but Young Stringer is entirely made up for the series. And that's where it stops.
