Ragnarok: Ragnarok (2023)
Multiple ambiguous endings??
Choose your ending:
a) Everything happened like it was supposed to but in another reality inside Magnes head.
B) Everything happened inside Magnes head.
C) Everything happened inside Magnes head but he actually has powers.
D) Everything was a comic book.
E) It was just a vision of a possible future.
I have to believe C and E is the final ending because it just wouldn't make sense for Magne to imagine what other characters actually lived, and experienced. So yes, I believe he
actually met the gods, he is Thor but decided to cut the cycle of Ragnarok or in the worst case delayed it for the next generations. A could also be true,
Ragnarok ocurred and he is recalling a possible future where none of that would have happened if he had taken the other way.
This ending is just confusing like it was the direction and development of the whole season. Season 1 & 2 are really good but season 3 is like meh. They even actually ignored details like Magne's vision
and physical condition. Also what about Vidar's death and the wild dog too? I dunno I am just dissapointed. Maybe if Netflix wouldnt have canceled it, maybe we could have gotten a very different ending. I just find it unnecesary and poor the addition of the comic book at the ending and blame all that happened to the schizophrenia and ptsd Magne experienced with Isolde's death.
The Flash (2023)
Quality Gone Missing Vanishes In Crisis
Ezra Miller should have played Wally West from the beginning since his character is nothing like Barry's. The movie is good but for hardcore Flash fans like me 🤣, there are many faults, like where the hell is Reverse Flash???? Like I said it's good, like a hybrid superhero movie, but as a Flash movie it's not that good. I enjoyed it but it was difficult, the cameos more or less, since I've never been a fan of Superman or the other iterations outside of Cavill. That Jay Garrick (Hunter Solomon) cameo 🤣 the fake Jay Garrick made a cameo. Really why? It makes sense and it made me laugh a little but John Wesley Shipp would have been great.
Anyway, Grant Gustin didn't appeard which is very disappointing, they didn't even show that he was the one who gave Ezra Miller's Barry the idea for the name. The origin is also a bit loose, the original is scarier. I am going to say it again, we needed Eobard Thawne. Ezra's Barry is a little goofy and that's fine but he was overused a lot, Barry (in the comics) is serious so the tone of the movie should have been darker. Pattinson's Batman was a version that could have raise the bar. Keaton is okay but no so dark and threatening. I say this if they had made the film more serious and dark. The CGI isn't the best. Although I give them credit since the lighting was quite good and I liked that. As were the scenes where they showed off some of Barry's many skills.
I will summarize it, if you are not a hardcore flash fan you will enjoy it. Sasha Calle was good as Kara. Ezra's dark flash is super disappointing, the design is more like Daniel West. And he doesn't have the knack for hunting speedsters, just Barry. If they had used Thawne it would have been a thousand times better. Batman should have been Thomas Wayne, not Bruce. Anyway I'll leave my nerd fanboy rant.
Mo fang fan (2023)
Good
I don't understand why these series don't get more publicity than the ones Hollywood always puts out. I thought it was pretty good for the genre. The last I had seen was "Strangers" and "Signal". The cast acted quite well and it felt totally refreshing to the monotonous actors they always bring to the series.
The atmosphere, details and cinematography are well done. The only thing I didn't like was that from the beginning, the story was very predictable. From the first chapter they already show you the killer and the possible suspects giving you the hint that there is more than one murderer..
1899 (2022)
A copy of the videogame series The Evil Within
I gave myself the opportunity to watch the whole first season. I got many surprises like the fact that it looks like a cheap copy of the video game The Evil Within, the only difference is that here the plot takes place on a boat and it's not horror either. But to list the similarities:
1- In the video game the simulation is called STEM and is an organization controlled by the Administrator. In the series there is also an administrator who is the girl's father. In both projects he watches over the simulation.
2- The boy in the series is a copy of the daughter of the character Sebastian Castellanos Lily which is being used as the core of the STEM system in the sequel.
3- The one who plays Jonas in Dark looks like Sebastian Castellanos, even the house fire is a parallelism with the story of the second game.
4- The main character parallels Juli Kidman's character.
5- In the game you can teleport from one place to another by means of a mirror, in the series the same thing happens, the only difference is that they changed it for trap doors and closets.
6- The corruption of the simulation occurs in the video game by means of a psychopath while in the series something similar happens before the cycle restarts. The same happens in the second game of The Evil Within and in the first game with the departure of Ruvik.
7- In the video game the simulation was also created to study the brain and human capacity. Literally the same thing they do in the series.
8- The psychiatric hospital is the main place in the video game. The series also copied it.
9- Leslie's character is taken as a reference when they do experiments on the main character in the series.
I can continue listing many similar things even in the cinematography. I think that the only original thing was the plot of the ship and the triangle and that at the end it is in space. A total disappointment. I will not watch the second season if they make it. The writers should do their due diligence before creating these series. Is good to mention that I guess it took inspiration in Ghost Ship because the vibe it gaves is from that movie.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Superhuman Law (2022)
Too fast, scenes feels out of place
The pacing of this second episode goes even faster than the first, making it all overwhelming. This is bad because it doesn't even give me time to react to what is happening. The episodes need to be longer, this is not an anime, I know they are trying to make it look like a vignette but it doesn't work too well. Even the movie character reference can't save the feeling of being out of place .
This episode could easily have been part of the first episode if the directors and writers had organized themselves a bit more. Quality is better than quantity, apparently Marvel from this days does not understand that. They have to also lower the comedy because is bad, they should have started serious and make a few jokes along the way but no. They want everything to be a comedy making the character look so cheesy and repetitive, She Hulk does not even feel unique because it has almost the same personality as other heroines showcased in the MCU.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: A Normal Amount of Rage (2022)
Not a good pilot
This first episode was not what I was expecting. I was looking for more of an engaging story but we got one big random alien ship that appeared and that's what jump starts the story, like seriously? I am going to confess that I started watching because I want to see Matt Murdock again but this episode was not enough. The writers did not dig too much in her back story, her problems, worries etc... I have to also criticize that I did not liked that She Hulk gain her powers so quickly and that we did not have enough time to explore how this powers grew on her. She seems to take control of them just like that alien ship. I don't know what to say. Disappointed I will stop watching if stuff like this keeps happening. Will keep an open mind for now but I have low expectations. The poor jokes, cheap fighting scenes and highly exaggerated CGI are big no no for me. I have to mention that the pacing was too fast, this episodes needs to be longer.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Inspirational
I discovered this show a couple of months ago and for my fortune it was one of the best comedy, emotional and motivational thing I have seen since my childhood days. This show made me realize how important discipline is and how relationships really are. Acting wise this show is superb with a great cast, it also explores every character point of view as well as their backstories. Loved every cameos and references to Karate Kid. I don't have more words to describe it, its really good, well written with charismatic characters.
Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022)
Good but disappointing.
I enjoyed it but I didn't like it as much as Despicable Me movies 1 and 2 did. I loved the story of Nefario and Gru as well as the minions but the villains felt too exaggerated, I didn't find them pleasant either. A movie like this doesn't need so many enemies. The minions were fine, but the Kung Fu scenes were a bit over the top. I hope that in the next films there will be an explanation of what happened to Otto and why he does not appear in the main films. Loved everything else of the movie but I wished there was an explanation of where The minions originated and more scenes with kid Gru.
The Sandman (2022)
Good but not good enough
A very good and entertaining series. It is very true that the excess of LGBTQ+ characters was very tiring, but if you don't think much about that or about the comic, I can't find why you wouldn't enjoy it. Nowadays they always put plots like that in the stories, we just have to ignore it and see the good points. I think what I liked the most was the story of the capture of Dream and his friend Hob Gadling. Death was also quite good as was Doctor Destiny. Everything else was a bit boring and bland.
The Flash: The Man in the Yellow Tie (2022)
One of the best episodes so far this season.
I really liked how they managed to work around the writing inconsistencies in this episode. Loved the cameos, season throwbacks, hints and comic influences. They also managed to make Thawne more appealing to the viewer while also maintaining the comic integrity. I am expecting much more in the next episode. Hope to see more of Matt Letscher.
The only thing that bothered me this episode was Cecile. I think she should loose relevancy in the series. Really hated how they keep trying to make her more OP and more teenish like personality when in the first seasons she was a serious character. That really bothers me. (Also what is happening with Diggle? Is he going to get the ring in Superman & Louise? Is his opportunity gone forever)
But overall I haven't watched a good flash episode like the one tonight.
