Battlestar Galactica: Islanded in a Stream of Stars (2009)
Set up for end of the Season....
The president is having visions of the opera house again. Her cancer is progressing to a state where she is losing her mind. Cara Thrace is trying to tap into Landers mind for more information about who she is. Helio tries to take a suicide mission to the cyclon base camp because he doesn't care anymore about his life. He doesn't care because his wife is dead.
The head cyclon(Helen) tries to convince Ty to send the fleet to the cyclon base. She says that he should try to keep the cyclons race going, but he refuses because he thinks Galactica is his real home.
The six model rejects Baltars moves on her because she has changed unlike him.
Kara Thace gets baltar to test her dog tags to see what she really is. Baltar finds out that she is a resurrected human, however considering it is baltar he could be deceiving her and the crew for some ulterior motive.
Baltar's is getting stronger, his mysticism is appealing to the hopelessness of the crew of Galactica. Adama is not liking baltar sermons because he does not want false hope sweeping through the fleet.
Hera can project like cyclons, this surprises boomer and it makes her more appealing to boomer. Boomer gives Hera over to Cavil(-aka quantum leap dude) and who knows what he will do to her.
Finally, Adama is going to abandon the ship due to the bad conditions of the Galactica.
Battlestar Galactica: The Hub (2008)
More of the Same!!!!
In this episode we have lost 1 human. If you notice at the first of the show it displays how many humans are left. Last episode BSG had 39, 674 humans. Now it's 39,673. Who was killed? Some peasant or a particularly non-important person?
Anyway this episode of BSG goes back in time. We see the lost party of President Roslin and the rest of the bunch. They all are trying to figure out why the hell the hybrid jumped the ship. Turns out the hybrid went cuckoo when the #6 model was shot. Was she shot because that was her destiny? Are Athena's dreams, visions of the opera house somehow the means of the whole Earth mission? Who is the ultimate controller of the hybrid? God? Baltar? But then who created Baltar if he is God? This begs the question who was the creator of the creator of Baltar? I'm bored of the abstract meanings. More examples: (Kara Thrace, Roslin, Athena's) visions, who is God, are the cylons and humans going to breed like rabbits when they get to Earth?
Back to the show; President Roslin has visions with her dead spiritual adviser. She shows her death and how she has become an inept leader. (I'm tired of the death bed scenes?!) Baltar is cracking jokes on an old cyclon model. (I found this amusing the 1st time, but after the 3rd time it was filler) Some other filler was #8 having a chat with Helios about how she knew how to rub his back. She admits that she stole Athena's memory bank last time she died. I have been criticized in the past for claming some BSG episodes as filler episodes. Let me pose a rebuttal; what does rubbing Helios's back, 3 cut scenes to Baltar talking to an old cylon model, and nonsensical talk between Roslin and her old spiritual adviser have to do with the main plot? (Earth mission, who are the cylons)
The criticizer will likely post back and say "well we get to know more about the characters". Why should we know about another #8 that will likely die and a new one will emerged? Furthermore, shouldn't we pretty much know the characters by now. (It's only been 97 episodes. Shouldn't we know them by now?) I understand the point of building an emotional bond to the characters. However, when they keep on dying and coming back what's the point?
Some good parts of the show are when Baltar admits to Roslin he gave the key codes to the cylons. Moreover, Breanna is back and should make BSG better. Also, I found it interested when the hybrid ignores Baltar. This leads me to believe that Baltar is not so important after all.
Summing things up, BSG is bringing up more dumb questions than answers. Instead of a succinct, clean story, I'm left with more baffling questions.
P.S. If the crew of the Galactica wants to figure out who the cylons are. It is simple. We all know the cylons have this extraordinary strength. Let the crew set up a fight and if one member does an astonishing fly kick attack. Then the case is closed. It's funny the Galactica has the technology to leap through space yet can not figure out who is a cylon. 5/10 Peace
Battlestar Galactica: Sine Qua Non (2008)
What a difference a week makes?!!
I must admit this was the worst episode of the season(ironically the last episode was the best). There was no action and flow of the show was, at least, irritating.
For example; There was the Saul and Adama conflict, Adama and Boomer conflict, Saul and #6, Lee Adama and Romo(the lawyer from the Baltar case) conflict, and who was going to be the next president debacle.
This, in my opinion, was the classic "filler episode". I hate when this occurs but it's the nature of shows with 20 episodes.
All in All, nothing really was accomplished. Furthermore, the president and the jumped cyclon baseship was no where to be found?!! I give this episode 4 out of 10. 4 for just the effort. Well let's hope we don't get anymore of these episodes. Come on MICHAEL MOORE!! BYE
Battlestar Galactica: Guess What's Coming to Dinner (2008)
Episode I been waiting for!!!
The best BSG episode of the season. The acting is not forced and the action is packed. The cylons make a deal with the humans. This is a huge moment in the series. Finally, the cylons and the humans negotiating.
The Dratitus mission scene is awesome. It brings more depth to the series. It just feels like more is going on than just the lonely Galactica. Finally, we get closer to the truth of the lost cyclon. But it's still unclear, if it's not Starbuck they have a lot of explaining to do.
The highlights of this episode is when the cylon Starbase jumps above the Galactica. I loved it when everyone was like "frack it's(cylon starship) on top of us." I give this episode 8/10. Some bad highlights were the sappy scenes with Roselin and Arabic cylon and Baltar.
The X Files: The Gift (2001)
Another lame episode
How many times have I seen this. The person or persons do a act (in this episode heals people by eating them and puking them out) and repeat it over and over again. It just gets so repetitive. All it is, is filler. It's getting on my nerves. ARGGGh.
Anyway, Mulder is back in this episode. Albeit, it is something that happen in the past. Doggett tries to figure out where Mulder is heading, but still can not find him.
It's always good to see A.D. Skinner in the shows. He brings so much to the X-files with his no nonsense attitude.
Scully appears and the beginning of the episode but it is a flashback from another episode. This sets up the episode. Anyway, the story sucks but the acting is good. I shave big-time points off when the story sucks. So 4/10.
Sometimes I wonder why I watch this show. Maybe waiting for CSG to come back.
