Damaged (2024)
something not right about this movie
The casting is really odd.
We have much better British actors, even less well known ones than the ones chosen- they don't stand well next to SLJ or, somehow the atmosphere needed to make it work was not achieved.
The Scottish detective misses clues and doesn't even know what an Ankh is or other clues that SLJ informs him of so... Yeah he needs help if he's an experienced detective and doesn't know to look at blood scenes with luminol etc.
As for a really ugly dyed beard stubble... This was uncomfortable to watch the whole time. No detective has time to do that every morning.
As the others have said, it just doesn't make sense. The cast choices have ruined it, the filming seems to be low budget, and yet we all really wanted this unusual blend to work.
There was even dead giveaways for British audiences who know exactly which Scottish actors are going to get certain roles. I would bet that it was a non American company that chose the Scottish actors, really really bad idea for a movie.
Perhaps just not having SLJ in the middle of a Scottish movie would have improved it a lot and made sense of the budget.
I think it's watchable but maybe just a wine and pizza movie on your own.
The Bay (2019)
Best acting I've ever seen
Seriously, I've never been so consumed by a TV show, and the acting is impeccable- not just the main characters but every one of the characters which is unusual for tv shows. I found myself moving towards the screen or left and right as if i felt in the scene, thankfully no one was with me to witness it. Every series is better then the last. So yes this one gets 10/10.
Highly realistic, the comments said in certain situations are what real people actually do say rather than dramatised. The emotional content, being based on everyone effected by a crime, is high and seems to be flawless.
I'm now looking up the director, all the actors , to see what else they are involved in because I'm so impressed with the quality and I've never done that with tv shows.
House of Maxwell (2022)
covers the very basics of a complex monster family
A strange whispery slow talking commentary feels out of place for a factual documentary to summarise the facts and history of financial robbery, lies, and sexual abuse.
About Time (2013)
great for parents
It's about life- but really it's about family life- as in- having one. Rather heart breaking for the fallen, with no time traveling brothers of wisdom.
