The Girl from Plainville (2022)
Could've been told in 4 1-hr episodes or less.
Elle Fanning has some astounding moments - but the meandering plot masquerading as oversaturated character development makes you want to skip to the end.
The Shrink Next Door (2021)
Premise Aside, An Outstanding Cautionary Tale
An outstanding, cautionary tale exploring rarely talked-about, everyday themes of manipulation, control, and loyalty - all along the psychological tightrope of common sense amid personal and professional boundaries.
Aside from a premise that inherently risks giving too much of the overall story away: the plot alone is worth investing in to see how it all unfolds.
Some episodes carry an air of predictability BUT Rudd, Hahn & Ferrell's performances alongside the period design are the fireworks that help even out the plot. A joy to see Christina Vidal!
It's a pleasantly enjoyable reality check after the inept chaotic turmoil of 2016-2020. HIGHLY recommended on a 4K TV.
