3 Body Problem (2024)
Unique and compelling
I never read the books or even heard of this story until it came on Netflix and even after watching the trailers, I was confused on what the story should be. But, it looked intriguing so my family and I decided to check it out. I'm so glad we did. The storyline is compelling and unique and the graphics are nothing short of amazing. We love science fiction and this show does a good job of blending sci-fi with human drama and intimate personal relationships. The acting is solid. The only critique I have is that physicists who look like supermodels is not that believable but this is TV so it's to be expected. The international cast is nice to see and we can't wait to see what the next season brings.
Brian Simpson: Live from the Mothership (2024)
Sorry but No
My title tells you want you need to know. So disappointing as we were looking forward to watching this. Is it even possible for a comedian to do a set without constantly talking about racism non stop? It felt like the audience was held hostage because if they didn't laugh they would be called racist. Watch the audience and you'll see how uncomfortable everyone is. This guy needs therapy. I feel bad for people that live their life in bubble where they see themselves as a perpetual victim. It's exhausting to watch and not funny. Oh well, plenty of other comedians to check out on Netflix. Too bad as this comic wasted a golden opportunity to gain some fans from a Netflix special.
Blown Away (2019)
Good show, questionable judging
My family and I have watched all seasons so far and for each season I agree with just about all of the judges decisions EXCEPT for the final winner. In the latest season, Ryan was clearly deserving of the win. His black glass pendulum piece was amazing. I wanted to keep looking at it and have actually been thinking about it since I saw it. That is how much of an impact his art made on me and is the actual purpose of art. (Winner Morgan's piece was good but forgettable) The format of the show is fast paced and I am in awe of the talent of the glass blowers. They are so passionate about what they do and their creativity shines throughout the show. The judges do not explain their reason for their decisions, they just announce the loser and winner. I would like to hear their reasoning as it is clearly subjective.
The Floor (2024)
Fun but needs improvement
We love trivia shows and had a lot of fun as a family watching this. The categories are eclectic and Rob Lowe did a fantastic job hosting. The problem for us was that the format gave an unfair advantage to the contestants who were picked late in the competition. There were contestants who won multiple rounds in a row accumulating a lot of floor space for someone to come along and take it all in 1 round. I suppose having a category that is on the tougher side helps a contestant stay in the game as no one would want to challenge them. But, the format just seemed off and not fair for such a large cash prize. Having said that, we would definitely watch a Season 2 if the game is updated to be more fair.
Stranger Things (2016)
So much fun!!
This show has it all.. nostalgia, scares, excitement and most of all, it's fun to just sit back and enjoy!! We really enjoyed watching all of the seasons but especially season 4 which kicks things up a notch. Check out the show "Dark" which is also on Netflix if you like Stranger Things. "Dark" is one of the best Sci-Fi shows of all time. Stranger Things is more pop culture. Both are great!
The Mindy Project (2012)
Just No
As an Indian American woman, I was excited to see an Indian female lead at the time. I got through 2 seasons before I gave up. The show started Ok and then careened into unwatchable for me. What
Dr. Talks like a 7 year old and acts like she's 13? There was a revolving door of supporting cast and somehow every guy she came in contact with fell in love with her. I don't feel that Mindy wanted to share the stage with her cast members and then the storylines became increasingly annoying.
Our Great National Parks (2022)
Great family show
This is a great show to watch with the family. The photography is beautiful and the stories are cute. Not too violent as some nature docs can be. I don't mind the Obama narration... maybe Trump can narrate Season 2, haha.
Dark (2017)
The mind of a poet and heart of a scientist
As intricate as this series is, the heart remains throughout. The writers here "get it" in my opinion and having watched all 3 seasons, I can truly say this is a masterpiece that takes TV writing and execution to another level. Thank you to the writers for the beautiful journey.
