Finally!
12 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Is this a perfect movie? No. But I will say, as an avid horror fan, that this one has been the first in years that genuinely made me feel unsettled watching it. Some of the jump scares were predictable, but most were very sneaky and totally got me. The acting by the lead especially was well done; it was easy to feel her despair as days passed and she tried to figure things out.

It reminds me a bit of It Follows in the sense that there's this "thing" going from person to person, sometimes taking on the appearance of someone you know, and sometimes not.

It's not that often you see the protagonist lose (they always seem to figure it out just in time 🙄), and it was actually refreshing.

Echoes (2022)

*sigh*
17 September 2022
The preview looked promising so I gave it a go.

Whoever said it was like a 7-hour Lifetime movie is right. The writing and acting are painful in this. Each episode just gets worse. Some of the acting is flat and other times it's too over dramatic.

As someone who's been around horses for decades, most movies and shows that have horses involved make my eyes roll. This one is no different. Some of the scenes revolving around the horses are so cringy.

To top it off, horrible casting. None of the child/teen actors look a single thing like their adult versions. Like, horribly off. It shouldn't bother me that much, but on top of an already bad storyline, it's just annoying.

Loved the originals, but the reboot...
13 March 2022
I'm in my 30's and only just recently started watching L&O by accident, thanks to letting my tv play in the background while I work. I really enjoy it and for the most part, the storylines and acting are great.

But the reboot...yikes. I was so looking forward to it, but it's majorly lacking the same feel that the older episodes had. No real drama, no action. It just seems too straightforward and boring. They also seem to be pushing social issues a lot harder, which, while I think they need to be addressed in shows like this, there's a point where it feels too forced, and that tends to just irritate people instead of just planting the seed and letting people think about it later.

So...I'm disappointed in the reboot so far, but I'll probably keep watching anyway.

So about Season 4...
2 December 2020
Fargo was (WAS) my favorite show. I was bummed when it went missing for a season, worried it had gotten the can, and then so excited to see it was coming back for season 4. Plus, Chris Rock? Cool.

But oh..oh, no. This season of Fargo feels like a completely different show. My husband and I forced ourselves through it, hoping it would get better, that it would start to feel like the rest. We watched half-heartedly until finally we saw the last episode tonight on the DVR.

All I can say is that if they bring back a new season next year, I'll be seriously skeptical of it. I don't know how they managed to blow it so badly.

The ONLY reason I gave it such a high rating is because of the first 3 seasons. Those are totally worth watching. Do yourself a favor and skip season 4 altogether.

Loved it.

Perfect? No. But for what it is, I was entertained and that's why movies like this are made to do.

Pokes fun at both sides and at least for me, it didn't end how you'd expect it to.

Betty Gilpin is excellent, and I bought the blu-ray because of her character/acting in this.

Good so far; hoping it stays true to the book
27 April 2020
I read "Defending Jacob" several years ago, and it's remained one of my favorite books I've read to date. I had heard rumor of a movie adaptation, but it never happened and I eventually forgot about it. When I saw the trailers for the miniseries, I was so excited someone finally did it.

However, it also makes me nervous...I've been seriously let down by movie adaptations before (I'm looking at you, My Sister's Keeper), so I'm watching this with cautious optimism that it will stay true.

So far, however, I've enjoyed it. No major complaints about the casting, although I'm not sure I envisioned Chris Evans as Andrew.

I've been waiting for this for a long time, so I will definitely keep watching and hope to not be disappointed in the end.

Cliche plot, bad acting, bad script
17 September 2018
This felt like watching a middle-school play as far as the script and acting goes. I gave it a shot as it came up on auto-play after watching a different movie on Hulu (read: I was too lazy to change the "channel" so I left it playing). The beginning wasn't awful, so I'd hoped it would turn out to be a decent film. It got bad quickly, however. I just could not get over the awful acting and horrendous dialogue. The plot itself was a bit ridiculous too: although not entirely implausible, it was just over-the-top. I won't spoil anything just in case, but I can't recommend this movie.
