Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing (2023)
Discovery turned bully.
Normally, I enjoy naked and afraid.
Flops like the "love" one, just didn't ever cut it.
This could have been great. But, the mindsets of humanity continues to break good things.
I'm not a fan of backhanding, deception, lying, bullying etc...
This season show cases the worst of peoples personalities. People group up and take on bullying while justifying their actions which are considerably worse.
Ganging up on people is something we should steer away from and not encourage. But of course, when rules are changed, it leaves room for this to happen.
Ya screwed up discovery. It could have been great, but you didn't do enough homework.
Invasion (2021)
From Start to Finish, predictably a failure.
This movie seemed like a genuine profit show. Purely there to make a ton of money off of a never ending cliff hanger with the expectation it would be cancelled.
The film seemingly had a low budget, gore wasn't gore, violence was dumb, the special effects for the only few scenes that needed it is probably where all the funding went.
This show, I was excited to watch b/c I needed something to fill my time while I wait for the epic second season of Foundation.
Ha...Haha.... HAHA, someone compared it to Foundation. Nah, Narr, not even.
This show was 100% B or even C-roll style film. The acting was alright, the story lines were terrible, the what, we couldn't even understand for a majority of the show. A slowwww grinding rising action to say the least.
It's like, someone watched Signs, Foundation, War of the Worlds and then they watched World War Z and said, I bet I could mix the four together and not make yet another "ALIEN INVASION" show.
But, but, oh but it was, except absolutely terrible. It's a constant critique fest. I could see it going on Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and being made fun of continuously. Because that's all we did.
You don't know who the aliens are, like ever, you see maybe 4 of them the entire time. It felt like it was directed and written by some new gen kid who somehow lucked out or drugged everyone into funding it.
Overall. Don't even bother, it's a crap show. There's nothing special about it, there's nothing interesting, the entire show seemingly takes place in the same forested street. Back and Forth back and forth they go.
Good luck if you watch it, smoke a lot of weed.
Black Mirror (2011)
First 4 Seasons 8/10 creative, last two Seasons 4/10
I'm a big fan of Stephen King books and when done right, the movies.
Black Mirror took a spin out of Stephen King's creative layers when it first came out.
Taking popular ideas, concepts, tech and showing us the pro's and the cons more or less. It's what made it, "Black Mirror"
The last couple of seasons have lost all Black Mirror'esq feeling. Leaving me bored, watching a predictable tale, or something that's already been covered before.
The first few Seasons were phenomenal. Sure, there were episodes where I wasn't as thrilled, but overall, each season felt unique. Until 5 & 6.
5 & 6 were bland, boring, and by the title of Black Mirror are they only able to acquire such reviews for the new season. People get stuck in a trending review cycle. Oh it's amazing because it's "Black Mirror".
Nope, not at all, honestly, watch the first 4 seasons, love them, then move on. COVID has yet killed another awesome show. Like most films after COVID, we suddenly have been left in a predictable world without much controversy. Dare we be controversial in fear that we get cancelled.
That's my take. Find out for yourself, but certainly don't leave a 10/10 as if there isn't one thing that could be better. I've never seen a 10/10... Foundation... Quite potentially the closest to a 10/10 I've seen.
Now there's a show people should go watch... Watch Foundation. And until Black Mirror gets it's head out of it's... I don't think it's worth it anymore.
Outer Range (2022)
Except for the Lack of Lawful Common Sense
This show has been a trip, well written and purely entertaining.
The only complaint is, they could have played the legal part more accurately and forgetting completely about common sense.
The Law portion of this show is also not accurately depicted.
Why wouldn't wealthy people, have a lawyer to consult and to know when to ask for a lawyer.
There's this one guy that the acting chief speaks to, and his accent is indistinguishable. It changes drastically from second to second.
COMMENT if you noticed this too!
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Great until the last 30%
I mean,
Without spoiling anything.
If were critiquing this in a short sweet package.
I would say it seemed like the writers really cared in the beginning, and somewhere along the line they woke up and realized they didn't know who to pin the murder on.
Either the writers had no idea what the ending should be or they got seriously lazy for the remaining 30% of the film.
The twist was awful.
It's like saying, after 20 minutes of explaining a joke that you say, "It was the butler!"
I don't know, maybe the book if there was a book was better?
It had a lot of potential to really pull you in with the story, it seemed like there were obvious choices all along that could have given this story a more interesting ending.
After watching it all, I can honestly say, it's not worth your time, you'll end up feeling like you wasted your life on something bland and without flavor.
I mean it, I just wouldn't even venture into it. You'll think you're on a kickass ride and then you follow that anticipation rush, and you'll never, ever get over that hill for the ride down. It just goes up. And then stops, it never gets quick or fast or intense. Just a mild ride all the way thru.
