Possession Diaries (2019)
Things that are scarier than this movie: A List
1. Playing a Carpenter's record backwards
2. Throwing out expired milk
3. Overdue library books
4. Crabgrass
5. Forgetting your customer loyalty card at the checkout
6. Wally Cox
7. Seeing that you're down to 1 refill on your prescription
8. Chipmunks
The Capture (2017)
Interesting premise, poor payoff
As others have already said, the premise of the movie is really quite interesting, but the ending leaves you pretty flat. "Oh. Well. That's that, then. Time to do the laundry."
And this has the most literal example of "Chekhov's gun" I've ever seen in a movie.
The Head Hunter (2018)
Getting a head in life
I think the reviews so far are either the usual "HOLY CROW THIS WAS THE BEST EVAR!!!1!" sort of shills, or from people who just overthink things.
I thought it was a nice funky little film, and I enjoyed watching it. Oversimplified synopsis, w/ some spoilers: About a dude who hunts monsters (orcs, trolls, whatnot) on a for-hire basis for the King, and collects their heads as trophies. Some beastie kilt his daughter, and he's till butthurt about that, so he slays said beastie. And takes it's head.
As a hobby he makes a disgusting potion of regeneration, which he uses on a regular basis after his beastie-killing missions. Well, accidents happen, the potion gets spilled on a beastie head he was saving, and head comes back to life. Hilarity ensues.
Definitely worth watching. Check it out.
A.I. Rising (2018)
RealDoll in Spaaaace!
If your idea of a good time is staring into a halogen headlight, you're going to LOVE this movie. Especially all the seizure-inducing flashing light scenes.
But enough of the special effects, on to the plot: Sex. Robot. Sex robot. Robot sex. Sex, sex, sex, robot, sex, robot, robot, sex, sex, sex sex sex sex robot. Roll credits.
I don't think I missed anything.
Level 16 (2018)
Where have I seen this before?
Yet another "The Island" / "Parts: The Clonus Horror" / "Never Let Me Go" but just with faces.
That is all.
Crucible of the Vampire (2019)
Dracula is spinning in his grave
Wimpiest vampires ever, and that's including the ones in the Twilight movies. Dumb, too, one forgets she's a vampire and runs out into broad daylight just to burst into flames. I've seen better CGI from an Amiga 1000.
