The Veteran (2011)
Not too exciting
If you are bored, you might enjoy this. The story line is all over the place. It is never established of what he did or how it really played into the plot line. He is a veteran but it lacks information about what he did. The characters didn't really connect and the ending shoot out was (I think) as merely shock value or some commentary on the War on Terror. The the movie tried too hard to show this and it failed. It left an open ending which didn't really give any suspense and was a lackluster effort to show what the ongoing conflict is really about. Perhaps the focus should have stayed with a local situation as opposed to leaning towards a boarder appeal. It might have lead the viewer to establish more empathy about each character but it's impossible do so when the characters drop suddenly from the move.
Home of the Brave (2006)
Awful movie
The only spoiler I can give is this: the movie sucks! The acting, the plot and the cliché of Veterans returning home is lame. Whoever the military adviser was, should never work on a military themed movie again. Although the subject matter is important, it was handled in a format that won't help people understand but merely mock them. If you want to watch an excellent depiction of PTSD, The Best Years of Our Lives is quite spot on. It was one of the first movies to deal with, what is now known as PTSD, however it's ending which suggests that normalcy will happen only after you find a love interest gives it an easy out.
The Guardian (2006)
This movie was dumb!
As a member of the armed forces (army). This movie sucked. I was more annoyed with ashton's character and the whole I'm a wounded soul that cosnter likes to do. I felt dumb for sitting through this trite piece of crap that made me want to rip my eyes out. I can't want for ashton to finally fade away and costner to find a new direction. Save your money and wait for this movie to be on the discount shelf in your local supermarket. BTW, the story line was incoherent! It didn't do any good for the Coast Guard too. It made the Navy look like jerks. I'm disappointed they did not bag on the air force. In short, save your money.
The Singles Ward (2002)
Stay away from this movie...
This movie was terrible. The plot sucked, the acting was bad, the editing was inept and this movie makes me want to poke my eyes out. I wish I had the time I spent watching this movie back. The balloon scene was stupid, the Mormon jokes are really old, the soundtrack sucked, I saw no chemistry between the two leads, it's full of stereotypes, stupid local "celeb" cameo's..most noted was Del "I'm going to drive as fast as I want to.." computer idiot. What is worst is that these actors had to play themselves on the spiritual side and even they screwed that up. This movie help create a long line of lackluster efforts to mainstream LDS beliefs into Hollywood. I.E. The RM, Church ball, etc. etc. I would forgo watching this movie and instead run head first into a brick wall. You will be more entertained than watching this poor excuse for a show.
