Aiyyaa (2012)
Insecurity takes its toll
A fine actress though she is, seems to be now gripped with insecurity with a sagging career line. why else she would do a movie like Aaiyya !?. I have not been able to find a word to term this movie, as it fits into no category. 'Bad' is too good, 'Immature' is not appropriate for some one like Anurag Kashyap. I can not say anything about the story, as I could not sit thru more than twenty minute of the movie. Rani's performance seemed novice, may be it was because performance of the rest was so bad Rani had to DE-perform to match ! A howling granny trying to act chick, a mother trying to hold the controlling rein over the family, a moronic father fumbling with telephones, a brother trying to be funny all the time and a transvestite looking thing with no relation to the story make a jokers ensemble. Why and how we have a hordes of eligible bachelors who are all imbeciles is beyond me. Over all this movie not even worth wasting the time trying to write a review, let alone seeing it. So just avoid
Ghajini (2008)
For all who think Ghajini is a copy of Memento ___
GHAJINI tends to be more like a love story where the main character seeks revenge of his beloveds murder. He had been hit on his head by the goons with a metal pipe and the his memory sector gets all messed up. I bet he must have seen a movie called Memento where in a similar situation the hero tattooed things on his body to remember things. And our hero somehow manages to remember this and uses similar technique and finds the murderer and kills him. Where as MEMENTO, to my opinion is not a story of guy with a top floor damaged and can not remember a thing, but of a hare brained cop, who gets a humanitarian urge to help this guy. With a screwed up idea he cooks up plot to make the 'goldfish memory' to think that he is avenging himself and thing get real messed up. Amir Khan with his eight packs does a real convincing job of the gruesome killings. Yes there are quite some sappy sentimental moments without which Indian viewer wont be appeased . Over all this is another good movie from Amir Khan and worth seeing.
Socha Na Tha (2005)
if your idea of love is dancing around the trees, then this movie is not for you !
Most of the story writers and directors in Bollywood has either never fallen in love or has not the least idea what love is and how love 'happens'! This movie is sweet break from the usual Indian love cliché. the characters, Viren and Aditi had no idea when and how it happened to them. They fall in love and never realized it! Ayesha Takia has given an wonderful performance very subtle yet powerful. The twisting of the pencil, the sweet realization of being in love, looking worried when Viren after the confession climbs down the balcony and for a moment is not seen and the relief when he waves to her are some of the little details enacted so perfectly.
There is no melodrama, no usual flowery language that haunts Hindi movies.
Ayesha Takaia should not waste herself in insipid movies, and be selective for roles like this where she can justify her capability.
And as for the director, we would like to see more of his work !
Signs (2002)
'Signs' - just sign off !
The movie fails to grip you at all and is a no happening till the end! The world is getting either visited or attacked by 'may be' extraterrestrials who travels thru space to implant signs all across the world. TV is buzzing with these news and no one is moving to do nothing! and then this funny dirty being sneaks thru someone backyard and hides himself in someplace. I go to the forest near my place and i carry at least a large stick for any thing that may happen. But our visitor from world unknown, may be be with higher technology of space travels, comes to an unknown world just wit a ineffective skunk bag as weapon ! and gets kicked punched and battered ! Noboby, not even in the movie, except the 'lost somewhere' father is really looks scared. And all those meaningless montages of flash back ! By the way will someone tell me what was IT really !?
