Shockingly amazing!
6 August 2022
To call this movie a surprise would be the biggest understatement of a whole pop-culture generation.

The more powerful we've been becoming as a species, the more torn we've been growing to be - as individuals as much as groups / communities / societies.

Skin colors, genders, poor vs rich, liberals vs conservatives, order vs chaos: We've never been able to explore and purposefully use our own consciousness as we are today. And what have we mostly been doing so far? Exactly what the creators of this movie almost flawlessly portrayed.

Does the CGI suck quite a bit more than one time? Yeah, sure. Are most of the plot and some of the side characters a bit shallow? Yep, they are. Nonetheless, this is a GREAT movie!

As far as I can tell, most of us running away from reality has always been (one of) the most challenging issue(s) of our existence since we became sentient. To mirror that challenge in form of stories, particularly the ones about a hero / heroine, is something we've been doing forever. And what can I say? The story is FLAWLESS!

The fact, that soo many people seriously hated this movie and some even felt offended by it, tells a lot about our current state of mind as a whole.

Here: I did it. I didn't spoil anything. So, go and watch this movie. If you can, do it with your significant other and talk about it, later.

If you - like I had been doing - have been living like Neo & Trinity since the original trilogy, buckle up & enjoy the ride. Afterwards, get back to work!

Storytelling Masterclass!
26 February 2022
The 1st season covers SOO many freakin' layers of human existence - it's just ridiculous.

The Question"How to deal with death?" The different ethical & spiritual realms of Mankind, cross-culturally?

The "Hero's Quest"?

Damn, the characters' depth is impressive, extremely nuanced & well balanced. The social interactions (even with an AI!) are highly relatable, right to the point where they become seriously heartwarming.

Initially, I watched the 1st season in 2020. I was in a bad place back then, though. Hence, I remembered liking it, but it didn't cut that deep. Now, I'm watching it again - almost 2 years later - and I'm completely blown away.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say: You might wanna give it a try. 😅 #enjoy #SciFiTreat.

Just for compassionate & creative people?!

Even if nobody would agree (obviously at least a few felt the same way, though), I seriously love this movie.

It hit me by surprise. After I hadn't opened the Prime App in quite a while, Amazon recommended "The Tender Bar" and I just clicked, because Ben Affleck has been growing on me for a few years now.

As a fatherless son myself, I really appreciate the highly sensitive way this story was written and executed.

I'd assume, that it's not for everyone, but if you like characters with real depth and many wonderful - but challenging - relations to each other, give this movie a shot.

Surprisingly heartwarming!

I haven't seen such a pure and powerful hero story in a long time. Yeah, some might call it a bit cheesy - or maybe even childishly naive.

Damn, I enjoyed this ride like HELL, though. The suspension is built in an old-school way like "The Neverending Story" and feels like an homage to me. When we talk about the craft, it's also very well executed.

I got nothing but love for the script, the characters, the goofy (but frightening, nonetheless!) monsters, the social dynamics between the life forms (yeah, the dog is hella cute) and the focus on the hero's journey instead of romance.

Well done, folks - well done!

Maybe the best special in history!
23 October 2021
I still can't believe, how good this special is - so, I registered here to write my first review:

Of course, Bill Burr is a very "special" character and I get why quite some people (conservatives and liberals alike) dislike him.

If you know and love comedy though, you have to recognize the ridiculous level of "Comedic Storytelling meets Acting" in this special. It's not only funny as hell, it is highly relatable and an emotional rollercoaster. The vast variety of characters, voices and attitudes is nothing short of GOAT level genius. His stories also are slick & extremely well put together. In this regard, he is definitely on Chapelle's level - and I think that this special is actually better than everything Dave or literally anyone has ever released.

The last comment clearly is debatable. I'm a white guy from Germany and I'm a "special character" myself. So, I can relate to Bill's atmosphere more than to Dave's. I've liked Carlin more than Prior, but not because the latter would have been any less good.

My point is: This special is technically flawless. Bill is a master of his craft and this is his best show so far - there is no doubt in my mind. I laughed so hard like never before during a comedy show.

So, even if you don't like his persona all too much, he will get you with this one - I swear!
