Club Life (1986)
A total film of the 80's!!!!!!
I bought this film at a flea market for a dollar as it looked good and I heard Warhol film graduate Pat Ast was in it as I loved Ast in Reform School Girls and Motley Crue's video "Smoking in the Boys Room" plus Warhol's film "Heat" was better than any of Warhol's past work. I also knew that Sal Landi from "Savage Streets" was in it too. I loved the movie and glad I own it. It was a look at a bouncer's life named Tank which was played by Mike Parks from Tarantino's Kill Bill flicks working in dance clubs. Landi's character was in one scene only but a big scene as he tries to make a deal with the club owner with a bunch of other guys. Ast plays an owner at a sleazy rough lesbian bar who hires the bouncer. Ast was a lesbian in real life so she could relate to her role as her character's name was Butch and butchy attitude she had but she wasn't nasty like her role Edna in "Reform School Girls" or in the Crue's music video. She had a supporting role in it and her roles were bigger than in her other films like "Foul Play" or "Homer & Eddie" So she had known roles in all three, "Heat", "Reform School Girls" and this one. Also there's a great soundtracks by 80's music in this film and we also get to see Dee Wallace sing in it. Tank has to deal with some killer thugs in the film who killed his trainer and then at the end killed the owner played by Tony Curtis. It was very sad to see that. Also the closing credits came rolling down instead of rolling up which was interesting too. In the beginning when you see the opening credits and the dirt bike racing it looks like it was going to be a really bad Z-grade film but it isn't. If you love 80's dance films this one is for you, you won't be disappointed.
Horror (2003)
Well done for an independent horror film with lots of little shocking moments!!! Better than Desecration!!!
I was glad to get a hold of the DVD of this movie and now own it. Although the dialogues in this film are very thin nevertheless the story was solid and it's very much like an experimental Stephen King type film. The stories take place at different times when some youngsters escape from a rehab and their guilt kills them all. Interesting seeing the Amazing Kreskin in his first acting role and a nice performance by Christie Sanford as the crazy Mrs. Salo who very much resembles a cross between Linda Blair and Karen Black. Oh and of course a great and effective cameo by Miss Felissa Rose as the Art Therapist and it was one of the most effective roles she had throughout the film and I couldn't see anyone else playing her role and it goes to show that no matter how small the role is you can easily leave an impression in the film and Rose received alot of exposure for her character.
Grandma's Secret Recipe (2002)
Freddy Krueger Meet Your Grandma!!!!
A nicely made short horror spoof as I had it screened at an underground cinema in my hometown of Vancouver, BC, Canada called the Video In with another short I had a supporting role in called "Oregano Pesto Pasta Panache" whic was one of those awful cheesy Troma Team type films. Barbara O Connor does great playing killer Grandma with a Freddy Krueger personality as she does away both her nasty granddaughter Susie (Susan Hayes) and her son Jimmy (James P. O'Connor) both real life Granddaughter and son. Nice special appearance by Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Horror, Nikos the Impaler) as a news reporter Angie Angel and a cameo by Sleepaway Camp creator/director Robert Hiltzik as Granny's neighbor Mr. Myers. Check this film out if you loved film's like SCREAM, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HALLOWEEN, RABID GRANNIES and THE GRANNY.
The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (1977)
A definite cult classic like in the same vein as "The Six Million Dollar Man", "The Bionic Woman", "Charlie's Angels" and "Knight Rider"
I love reading "The Hardy Boys" books and I really enjoy the series, not so much of "Nancy Drew" though but then again, I never liked reading Nancy Drew in the first place. The series is very much like the books with similar plots. My favourite episode is the 2-part "The Last Kiss of Summer" as it was very touching. I enjoy Shaun Cassidy's music and it was great that he belted out some songs in the show as well. Many celebrity stars guested in the show like Melanie Griffith, Marj Dusay, Jamie Lee Curtis, Robert Englund, Stuart Whitman, June Lockhart, Terry Kiser, Lorne Greene and Ricky Nelson. The plots in this show is very similar to other shows during this era like "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Bionic Woman", "Starsky & Hutch", "Charlie's Angels" and "Rockford Files" I'd recommend this show to anyone who likes the shows I mentioned.
Breaking Away (1980)
Not such a bad Show!!! C'mon!!!
I loved the movie and never had a chance to see it when the series aired in 1980 and thought I'd never have a chance to see the series period and so I e-mailed people who made Shaun Cassidy websites and they directed me to someone who has all the shows Cassidy was involved in and I couldn't believe my luck!!! Only 8 episodes were made of this series and then it got axed! I know that when a movie is popular enough producer's try to make a TV series out of it with a different cast and it flops but some shows like M*A*S*H, Fame and The Highlander that were based on popular movies make more successful TV shows and I thought Breaking Away could be one of them. But this show aired during the writers strike so they should've waited till the strike was over cause I enjoyed the series, of course not as much as the movie but still enjoyable!!!!
Demon Wind (1990)
A campy but enjoyable horror film.
Well I hated "Slaughterhouse" with a passion and had to find out if Sherry Bendorf was in another film and found this one. A fun type film with some neat cheesy gore effects. Not a totally srious film but still well made for what it was.
