Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Fun for me as a fan but a flawed film
To start, I LOVE FNAF and I grew up with it so I will try to review it as a super fan. This movie's Easter eggs range from obscure to pretty common knowledge with the series and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss one and it was super fun! The fan service was almost exactly what I had dreamt it would be with the absence of a thing or two that I won't disclose. Watching it with friends who also love the series was a blast as we gawked at the fan service and found it funny and at times interesting. HOWEVER, fan service isn't a reasonable substitute for aspects of a good film. I had doubts because of the directors track record but this film really has issues that even I can see, and trust me I really wanted this one to be good. Starting with positives the movie at least kept me interested and I think it was shot decently well. The pacing was also mostly fine until the third act where it got a little shaky and most of the sets and the animatronics looked great but that's about all I can think of. The plot is okay but side plots that set up motives are short and a little strange. Speaking of motives, characters in games vs the movie seem different in weird ways, especially mike. I won't spoil it but if you know the lore the differences are strange and left me conflicted, especially at the end but more in that later. Even if you don't know lore the movie is predictable besides some aspects of the end. The ending feels really fast and is resolved strangely in my opinion and I don't know how cannon this thing is but some decisions made me as a lore loving fan confused a little angry. A few decisions made me as a fan mad as things they added that I think they should've avoided or things that are absent but this will vary with everyone. One thing I wished happened tho is that we got more time with the characters. I wish we got to see our heroes go through it a little more or something so that we really did root for them and care for them but they only sort of do it with mike and even then we could've fleshed it out more. The villain, though predictable, was barely in the movie and if felt like it relied on prior knowledge to make him feel threatening. Overall I had a blast but I really can't see a lot of people who didn't grow up with the series enjoying it because the for the fans spirt of the movie will just fly over there heads. I don't think this movie was completely trash and it did have a soul that was felt and conveyed by the director and the producer Scott but it definitely didn't feel like a good movie either. And maybe I'm saying it wasn't complete garbage because I am a fan but I do feel that there are a lot of movies out there that are definitely way more soulless, not fun, badly shot, (like the slender man movie) and more that this movie doesn't really compare to even if it's not a great film. Even though I'm slightly disappointed the time I had at this movie was unforgettable to me and the fact that this movie has finally made it after 9 years brings a smile to my face and should be celebrated, but I don't think that many will have the same experiences. I really wanted to like this and even though I didn't it was still fun especially as a fan even though things did rub me the wrong way now and then. If you like the series don't avoid this just go and have a good time and expect a great film. I will always love this franchise and I want people to see this movie and have fun despite the flaws but it's not for everyone sadly, but I hope it's one of those bad movies that gets a sequel because I'll be there no matter what.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Victory and Death (2020)
Easily some of the best Star Wars media
What an ending. This is probably my personal favorite thing to ever come from this IP and yes I'm including the original trilogy. I know that might be insane for some but I have trouble thinking of anything I would change or rly any flaws to this final arch in general. Everything hits hard from the story all the way up to the score. Even if you'd never seen anything Star Wars before in your life I still think this episode can stand on its own, but you won't really have the same attachments and it might not be that impactful for a person like that although I still think itd be good at that point. In conclusion, to me, this is the best thing to ever come from Star Wars and you need to watch it.
Sharkula (2022)
Really boring
Yeah I saw this and I saw the reviews and thought it would be a so bad it's good type of deal. It mostly wasn't worth it. I watched this with some friends in hopes of a good laugh but we didn't get as much as we wanted. Besides the very beginning and the ending where things start to pick up this movie is just plain awkward, embarrassing, unfunny, and very boring. The poor quality of just about every aspect of the film is a little funny at first but that where's off quickly. In conclusion not the best way to spend your hour even if you have some buddy's with you. Go watch a Neil Breen movie instead.
Family Guy (1999)
Hit or miss but it keeps getting more misses
Okay yes this show can be laugh out loud funny at times but as someone who sat through every episode that has aired to this date I can't say I even like the show. Sure there can be a good even great joke every episode or 2 but sometimes there is none. Also almost every single character becomes assholes as they're worst traits are only heightened with the shows run time. Sure I did for the most part enjoy the very early seasons of the show but they definitely still had issues with characters among other things but the show gets worse and worse even though I see very small improvement in more recent episodes. Not to mention when this show tries to be serious anytime after the first couple seasons it falls flat on its face and it's almost insulting. This show overuses jokes and ideas as well. I could go on and on but to conclude I don't recommend this show unless you maybe have a good episode guide to tell you some good episodes or if you're just looking for a rare laugh or you're with your buddies because that can make it a lot more bearable.
Fateful Findings (2013)
Awful but watch it please
This might be one of if not the worst movie I've ever seen. I don't even know how to begin describing this film. But despite this PLEASE WATCH IT. This is probably the most I've ever laughed at a film in my life and I will probably rewatch one day. Just go in excpecting a bad movie and it'll be fun.
The Simpsons (1989)
Sorry
I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge by now the show has been on a decline for years now, but at this point I believe there is more bad episodes than good with a lot of meh sprinkled in. I have watched every episode of this show and will continue to watch so that title stands and I would be lying if I say I didn't enjoy myself for a portion of it. Though I'd also be lying if I wasn't very critical of this show and I didn't hate a good amount of it's episodes. All and all I feel generous giving this a positive score still (6) but this 6 is carried by how good the good is.
Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986)
Yeah I like this movie
It feels super weird saying that about a Friday the 13th movie especially one with a 6 on the end of it everything points to this being another bad film but honestly it's my favorite one. This movie is dumb but very fun and I had a good time watching it. It's pretty self-aware and it knows what it is. Jason also does a lot of super wacky fun kills which is a blast. This Jason is definitely one of my favorites movement wise. I'll keep this review short because all I can say about its flaws chalk up to it's a Friday the 13th movie I mean there's only so much you can get from that plot and script wise. But even though it is just another Friday. This one feels fun and special but even though it's fun it's still DUMB fun and I recommend watching with your brain turned off halfway.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Not an awful entry... I recommend though
There was a lot of great parts about this movie. Most of the kills were absolutely brutal and a blast to see! Many scenes had me giddy and impressed. The crazy gore was another fact that only added to my enjoyment. Myers looks good too and the actor does an amazing job playing him which makes him my favorite part of the movie easily. Both mask he is seen wearing look very good. Speaking of I believed the way they did the flashback scenes were very good. I even enjoyed some of the sub-par acting as I found it very funny. But getting into the flaws bad acting is still bad acting. The plot was pretty lazy with a hole or a few and has some weird decisions. Things with characters being awful are really goofy. There is a lot of people too some a lot better than others and many with very short lives but it gives some very sequences and does impact the plot in a way. The mob mentality thing was pretty impactful at times but I feel some moments don't use it to it's best at all. If your looking for something really scary too I wouldn't say this one will be great for you not that it's not scary at all there are a couple scenes with a decent scare factor but all and all it's pretty tame in that department. I could probably talk about more but it's early so in all I highly recommend this movie if your looking for fun. This movie with all its problems is a blast to watch. Though I do recommend that when watching to turn off you brain a little. It makes it a lot more fun.
