Thomas & Friends: Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure (2015)
The Best Thomas Movie
Well.. Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure...
It's stunning in a lot of ways. You might have seen by the title that this movie ranks at the very tippity-top of my T&F tier list, and with good reason. I think the animation is at it's peak, with the amount of detail, blurring and reflection put into the most minor of things, then there's the big sets. They're AMAZING, expansive and look beautiful.
The music is stunning. This was Robert. Hartshorne's final (cannon) Thomas production to do the music, and by God did he end it on a high note. They legit hired a FULL ORCHESTRA to do the music in this movie, and it really shows, especially in the climax.
All the characters, whether returning, new or current were all portrayed very well here. Sailor John is a charming yet intimidating main antagonist, Skiff's a nice character who has a good moral conflict story, and it was amazing to see Mike, Rex and Bert from the Railway Series in the TV show. Lots of others like, Daisy, Marion, and Jack (and the Pack) were all good as well for the time they got.
Speaking of which, there's a very amusing side plot where the show makes fun of both Olivers, not much to say about it though.
And the main story is structured terrifically, even if there are a few minor plot holes here and there, it really doesn't matter because of just how damn-well-utilized everything is; how it's structured, told, shown out, it climbs all the way to the absolute PEAK of the TTTE movies. If only Mattel didn't flush it all down the drain in Season 22... I wish it was 2015 again.
Fireman Sam: The Pontypandyness Monster (2012)
SOILER: It was a Hoax
An honestly very mediocre watch that has Sarah act out-of-character, manipulating Gareth and putting everyone in danger just so Gareth could get more passengers. She's also a technical Karma Houdini because she never gets punished for what she did at the end.
Also, Elvis is as much of a twit as usual as he lies to Station Officer Steele about making sure everyone's safe when really, he wants to go see the monster too. Like what the heck man, you were once a good character, but cmon now. That's pretty stupid isn't it.
But, I will say Norman Price actually is pretty tolerable here, and I'd say he actually has his original Season 1-5 Personality.
