An Affair to Remember (1957)
Where is the wheelchair
This is one of my all time favorite movies. My one critic of the production is that at the end she is left on a sofa without a wheelchair in site. Left there without any means of transportation. Any paralyzed person would be frantic if the wheelchair were not there right be their side.
They have made remakes of the movie and in fact an affair to remember was a remake of a previous movie made I believe in the 40's. Whenever I watch this movie I am amazed at the wonderful filming for that period.
With the handicap of people being made aware to the general public today I am sure the wheelchair would be in sight.
'04: How Was It for You? (2005)
Realism of the working class women of the period in Ireland
I laughed and cried watching this movie. Every intelligent women should see it. It portrayed women in that period beautifully. The struggles of the working class and their tremendous humor in dealing with with every day strife. The acting by the orphaned children was so incredible and I do feel that the movie has been terribly under rated. The realism of the hospital scene will touch any women who has suffered the indignities of surgery. I'm not a great Tom Jones fan but the music and his cameo appearance were very real. We all like a happy ending and and our needs were certainly filled. When recommending this movie to friends I classified it with Vera Drake and Waking Ned Devinne.
