It's Bruno! (2019)
Dog centric comedy. Great characters and situations. Not a film classic tho.
Not just dogs, the people too. I love the dogness. I see people walking their dogs every day. This enters that world. More than really, cuz that's all there is in this world: dogs and their owners and the world they live in. This isn't done by Martin Scorsese. Maybe if Jonathan Ames of Bored to Death did this, we'd have production values to match these clever and fun stories. The cast is stellar. I happen to be a huge fan of Jade Eshete. She and her hair and resplendent face and, in this case, an accent, is just one of the fine characters populating this neighborhood. The woman who loves a dog, and their man and, well, it's subversive and it's hilarious. I first saw this show about 3 hours ago. In this age of entire TV series consumption like crack, all at once, well, I"m a Bruno addict. Charming, I love the friendships and the competitions amongst neighbors who are tryin' to get by with whatever hustle they can. A real film critic would give this a rating of maybe 5 or 6 due to the somewhat amaturish production. There's some charm to that but, really, the comedy, the neiborhood based and the nicely present characters, oh, yeah, and dem dogs, makes for a show that I'm always gonna be sure to see every episode.
A New Leaf (1971)
Believe the reviews n see it!
Along with the In-Laws with Alan Arkin and the Producers with Zero Mostel, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Matthau is peefectly cast, as is Elaine May. She did so few films, feast on this one. Possibly Mattau's funniest. The gentleman's gentleman, the uncle, the story, Matthau's characher, the most self centered, selfish person on film and his improbable journey, makes for a film that sets the standard for consiatently funny. Elaine May's character is the finest portrayal of a mousey, sweet, naive woman ever, perfect for humor, particularly when entangled by Matthau. Do yourself a comedy favor: watch it.
