Get Out (2017)
really a thiller
A somehow cliche, somehow illogic story but well done still. It's always about white seeking some better stuff and gets greedier. Although didn't understand how exactly consciousess transfer works, it's fine. Also it's scarier when you think that Rose might intentionally let Chris to see the pictures with her exes.
Cría cuervos (1976)
a film that completely hit my point
The music, the tempo, the language, the color...they just mixed so well to compose a master piece. I was amazed by the part that three girls danced silently in an almsot sexual way; the imaginary jump off from the roof top; the simulation of the adulery and breeding; the mother-daughter dynamics when choosing a song to play, as well as the sudden stop. Everything seemed align with deBouvoir's elucidation of girl life and Freud's liberto. It deserves thousands times review.
Daughters of the Dust (1991)
love film camera texture
I don't understand what's the thing with the horse-riding man and Iona, and what's the significance of the girl with the blue bow and why is she an illusion in the photographer's head?
Pather Panchali (1955)
leaving something behind
Here something is the daugther, the autie, and the envioronment they live through their whole life. What's the significance of it? Would they take the train?
Je veux voir (2008)
its's a whole new experiece
Confused myself between film and reality. Barely have any lines but all of the lines are important. I liked the analogy of the stranding whale.
Blow-Up (1966)
couldn't fully understand but that's fine
Discussed the 'constructed mind' as well as reality. Might have deeper understanding if I know more about British hippies culture.
Un chien andalou (1929)
amazing surrealistic masterpiece
Can't believe it was made in 1929. Expression is bizzarre and cool. I can see The Silence of the Lambs took the moth-mouth reference.
El abrazo de la serpiente (2015)
something about black and white strikes me
Deep theme, excellent photography, heart-breaking revelation of rubber industry. Spectacular montage at the end. Still unsure what serpent symbolizes for tho.
Meshes of the Afternoon (1943)
Experimental even now
Thought that I've seen it somewhere, but everytime I found something new. The usage of shadows and light is creative, and the concept avant-garde.
8½ (1963)
so beyond its time
The most attractive thing about this film is that you really can't tell what is dream or what is reality.
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
A somewhat disturbing film
Watched it as a homework for its representation of dreams. It really manipulates the audience to think about whether Rosemary is delirious till the revalation at the very end. It's so cult-y that Rosemary truely began to love the devil child. A progressive film in the 1960s I would say.
Leila (1997)
Brave people still seem helpless in front of a restricted system
A very subtle movie, but the plot is somehow repetitive.
The delivery about 1:21 is so beautiful.
