Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution (2022)
A masterpiece
Well worth the wait. The best episode in the series. I jumped out of my seat at the end, my jaw dropped to the floor.
Writing 10/10
Cinematography 10/10
Performances 10/10
Soundtrack 10/10.
The Walking Dead: Acts of God (2022)
An Entertaining But Predictable Episode
The showdown between Maggie and Leah would have been REALLY tense and suspenseful had Maggie's spin off not been announced. Daryl killed her without remorse, would have liked to have seen more of a reaction from him. Would have liked to have seen Leah kill someone of importance, she was just a minor inconvenience and completely mis-used. Might as well have died with the rest of the reapers, which was a poor arc in itself. Why has no one important died yet? 16 episodes into the final season and Kang is playing it far too safe with all the characters. Disappointed that Pamela Milton has only been in 3 episodes this season, only in only 2 minor scenes in this episode. She is a important character and she's being neglected. Where's Yumiko gone she's not been in an episode since EP9. Luke not been in an episode or referred to since S10 EP16 even though the show has returned to Oceanside twice since then! Poor writing!!! As much as I love the commonwealth arc, Kang is playing it far too safe this season. I would have liked to have seen more of the commonwealth in the first part of season 11 instead of the arc with the reapers. The reapers should have replaced the poor filler arcs that were in the bonus episodes of season 10. The cinematography of this episode is excellent, it is entertaining and suspenseful. Lance Hornsby is a great villain and character and is being used to his full potential. Entertaining but again another underwhelming finale just as 1108 was.
The Walking Dead: Warlords (2022)
A Great Episode
Full of twists and turns. An entertaining episode. This episode was much more fast paced in comparison to the past 3 episodes, it really has advanced the story in an effective and engaging way. A lot of new characters in this episode and if the new spin offs introduces new characters as well as this episode has, they're bound to be a success. Nice to see Aaron & Gabe shine in this episode. I am incredibly excited for next weeks episode.
The Walking Dead: Rogue Element (2022)
A Slow Episode with a Satisfying Ending
Josh McDermitt gave a great performance. This was a very slow episode that dragged, but it gave us a great insight into Lance Hornsby's character and the episode revolves around him. The ending of the episode created so many questions and it was really satisfying.
The Walking Dead: New Haunts (2022)
Marginally Better Than Part 1 of S11
I have been hyped all season to get a more in depth look inside of the Commonwealth and I got more than I bargained for in this episode! It did not disappoint. After the mediocre plot filler storyline with the Reapers in part 1 of season 11, the pacing of part 2 has been much better. I can't wait to see how things develop, particularly the relationships between Lance and Carol, Daryl and Pamela's son, Princess and Mercer and to get more of an insight into Pamela Milton's unfair class system that she employs. In an interview, Norman Reedus said when we get to episode ten "it's kind of like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory all of a sudden", he was completely correct. The vibe of the show has completely changed again and Angela Kang has successfully once again managed to completely change the direction of the show in an engaging way. This episode was one of the most entertaining episodes of the season for that reason.
However, there is still no mention of Luke or Oceanside? Did they all just disappear? Have they been wiped from the characters' memories? Or have the writers been lazy in not addressing their existence at all? Most likely the latter.
The Walking Dead: For Blood (2021)
Not Satisfied
Whilst I liked the direction that the episode took, like last weeks episode I felt as though something was missing. We're 8 episodes in, only 16 episodes left and none of the main characters have been killed off. There's a lot of major characters they've created and neglected, done barely anything with this season e.g Luke, Lydia. The writers need to have a little fun and start to take some risks, it's time to kill some characters off, there's plenty to choose from. The Walking Dead creating minor characters and killing them off a few episodes later is standard procedure, predictable and just boring. Yawn. I think the writers are playing it far too safe considering it's the final season.
Overall the season has been strong, but after last weeks slow episode, I expected a much faster and action packed episode. It was an entertaining instalment but it was far too slow for a mid-season finale. What happened with Leah and Daryl was very interesting to watch and I was rather surprised with Leah's decision to not go with Daryl. I liked how Pope didn't get a glamourised death, it was sudden and felt more impactful because of this. I found him to be an interesting but underwhelming adversary. It seems that Leah is the real threat.
I was disappointed that the commonwealth story arc did not feature in the episode. I'm glad that the plot filler with the reapers is coming to an end however I am excited to see what will happen with Daryl and Leah. I'm still a massive fan of the show and always will be. I am still excited to watch every week and I'm very excited to see what's going to happen with our group of survivors, Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
The Walking Dead: Promises Broken (2021)
Nothing Special, Clearly Building Up For EP8
Glad that multiple arcs were featured in the episode however it still was very slow. Some interesting dialogue and conversations occurred but I spent the entire episode waiting for something amazing to happen. This episode serves as a build up of tension to EP8 which it does rather effectively. It's set up the arc for the commonwealth quite nicely with issues of class which was teased in episode 2. Still very excited to watch each week but not a massive fan of the reapers story arc which serves as nothing but plot filler. However the reapers arc has provided an interesting dynamic between Negan and Maggie which is entertaining to watch.
The Walking Dead: The First Day of the Rest of Your Life (2017)
Cheesy
I'm a massive fan of the walking dead and always will be but the last half of season 7 and season 8 is garbage. I rewatched this episode recently and the cheesiness and corniness of the acting and the plot was laughable. Still, however, entertaining.
The Walking Dead: Out of the Ashes (2021)
Great Story Pacing
This episode was much better than last weeks very slow instalment. It was good to see 4 story arcs going on in the same episode which helps make the show much more engaging. The walking dead struggles usually when an entire episode is only focused on one story arc or character, season 7 and 8 is a prime example of this. More episodes with multiple plot lines being shown will help carry the story much better and keep people engaged. I have little interest in the reapers, but with Alexandria on its knees and the Commonwealth, I'm excited to watch every week.
I found the Judith scenes in this episode incredibly touching. Cailey Fleming did a great job! Judith is becoming a very well written and great character, it's nice to see her internal struggle coming to light as well as the adult characters in the show. The season overall so far has been strong, I'm still hoping that the pace starts to pick up more. But much like the walkers, TWD has always carried out story arcs rather slowly.
It's nice to see Aaron being used, I'd like to the writers make much more use of his character before the show ends as he's never really had much time in the limelight.
Is anyone else curious as to why Luke hasn't been in a episode since S10 EP16? Was a great character that the writers have decided to just forget. What's happened with Oceanside? The writers have not addressed this either.
The Walking Dead: Rendition (2021)
A Solid but Slow Episode
Excellent cinematography and soundtrack. I wouldn't call it a filler episode and the episode helped us get to know the new group of antagonists and the group dynamic. The episode however was very slow paced in contrast to the first three episodes. The final scene was very shocking and disturbing - reinforces the much darker theme that has been running through the season so far. I'm really enjoying where the story is going and I'm looking forward to each episode every week. This episode was nothing amazing but it served a necessary purpose in fleshing out the story and providing us with context for the new group of antagonists. The acting was great, especially from Pope. I'm keen to see how Daryl's role in the group will develop and whether Leah will change sides.
The Walking Dead: Hunted (2021)
A good episode that left me wanting more
The cinematography were beautiful. The opening scene was shot really well and I felt on edge watching it. The entire episode was very tense, and it was nice to see some heartwarming scenes with the children of Alexandria. Really enjoying the dynamic with Negan and Maggie, the episode left with me wanting more.
Would have liked to have seen more of the Commonwealth story arc, but I think that would have taken away from the "desperate to survive" theme of the episode. In typical walking dead fashion, those that died were just filler characters that had been in the show for all of 2 minutes, was disappointing but didn't expect anything less. The scene where Maggie easily defends herself from a brute with one hand was unrealistic. Apart from that, it was a solid episode and carried along the story nicely.
