Beast (2017)
a slow moving yet thrilling character study
A slow moving yet thrilling character study. Serious acting. Brillant screenplay.
Do Not Reply (2019)
Not a well made movie but...
The plot and premise are timely and I see this as a warning film to younger people to delete their accounts. If you watch this movie with volume off and subtitles on, you'll find that the screenwriting is rather good. This director brother team did their research on mind control and the camera work is solid. What weakens the film is the hair and make up and acting.
Don't Hang Up (2016)
the trailer says it all
No need to really watch Don't Hang Up. You don't learn anything really new, you don't walk away with any great insight. Pure scary as hell entertainment.
Swallow (2019)
pretentious and slow
Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow.
Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow.
Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow. Pretentious and slow.
The Little Things (2021)
slow but steady
The Little Things has intense acting, breathtaking filming yet the story isn't strong.
Cherry (2021)
brillant screenplay
Cherry illustrates to each viewer how we know our own path before we walk down it.
Girl Next (2021)
many stories packed into one film
Girl Next was like watching 4 movies on one. The story of a woman being trafficked, smoothly goes into cloning and chemically created personalities. Then switches to a few perverse relationships. Ending in a way I never saw coming. This is a strong indie movie.
Meander (2020)
claustrophobically beautiful
Meander is heavy only because it places the viewer front and center to the question "what would you do in this situation". I watched this twice, the second time i saw it with no sound and dang, I got the heaviness Mathieu Turi was portraying.
