M*A*S*H (1972)
The Show to End All Shows
I remember watching M*A*S*H when I was in the eighth grade. I was only one year old when it went off the air so I watched a few episodes during the summer and when I had been suspended from school. I used to ask my dad was Klinger a little on the "you know" side and he explained about bucking for a section eight. Well it's almost eight years later and Klinger is all man to me and M*A*S*H is my life line. The show that get's me through those bad days when I feel alone. My sorority calls me Hawkeye b/c when I'm not drinking a martini I am plotting a good prank for someone to pull. I will forever love M*A*S*H for all the happiness it brought to me. I still remember the first time I saw "Aybisynna Henry". I think I spelled that right. It made my cry when Radar came in with the kind of news that leaves you without speech and breath. Henry made me laugh if only for a short time due to the fact that that episode was the first I saw. After awhile I was in college and M*A*S*H was on again. I started watching and from then on there isn't a day when you don't hear "Suicide is Painless" blasting in my room. Here is to M*A*S*H. You bring smiles to my face and joy to my heart and I am grateful to you.
The Real World Movie: The Lost Season (2002)
I Got My Hopes Up For Nothing
When I first started seeing the comercials for the "lost season" of the Real World. I was excited. That is until I saw the show. Could it be any obvious that it was a fake "lost season". I mean c'mon explosions and kidnapping? I watched the 90 or so minutes of this made for tv tripe and just chalked it up to my love for the Real World. I also knew it was a phony lost season due to the fact that each of the characters played into what some see as the typical cast mold. You have your diva b****, the shy guy, the homosexual, the skater dude, the frat guy, the militant black woman, and the naive small town girl. What made the movie a little more tolerable is the fact that it brought together some Real World Alumni including Amaya (Hawaii), Anissa (Chicago), Mellissa (New Orleans), David (Los Angeles)(remember they kicked him off), and Mike (Back to New York). I guess overall if you're looking for a crazy spin on the Real World then by all means watch this. But if you are really hoping for a lost season that is authentic, then you better keep waiting. ** 1/2 out of ****
Door to Door (2002)
Finally A Good TV Movie
Door To Door is a good TV movie that will make you feel good at the end. The story of Bill Porter and his enduring patience and persistence is enough to make you change how you look at yourself and feel about others. One part that made me a little misty eyed is after his mother died, he went on selling things and as he tried to sell his products to a mother with a baby, he broke down and started to cry. As a man who never wanted charity and insisted that he do things on his own, he made it. Also he realized that maybe he does need a little help now and then. 9 1/2 out of 10.
