Perfect Days (2023)
Strong message but too much repetition
The message of the film is great and the main character seems authentic and humble, appreciating the small things in life and completely free of any need to show off to others (read: a lot of stuff we see in the media and on social media). Reading books, enjoying music, sitting in the park, going on with his work without complaining, happy in his daily routine and repetition.
The main downside of the film is dragging it too long, it could be shortened by half an hour or so without hurting the content, it could just make it sharper. Just a small example, we don't need to see him five times (or whatever the number was) taking coffee from the vending machine before going to work, we get that it's part of the daily routine without seeing it so often.
All in all I would recommend the film for its message, a good story and the main actor is great in his role.
A Paixão Segundo G.H. (2023)
Two hours too long
The endless monologue of the main character became tiring already in the first few minutes. Me and my friend both fell asleep at the cinema within 10-15 minutes and woke up from a scream of the main character. Monotonous shots of her inside her flat rambling through her existential crisis. It is supposed to be philosophical and artistic but is primarily boring. It might work as a book, but as a film, it lacks everything. Even for sleeping, because of her sudden scream. Two hours wasted, do not make the same mistake. One of the biggest disappointments I have seen in cinema. It had a 7.9 rating here when I checked, I see now that average was based on too few reviews to take seriously.
