8 Mile (2002)

Eminem Hits a Homerun

Eminem the GOAT proves he can not only rap, but also act. Em and Brittany were a perfect pair on screen and they hooked up on set. The sick part is Eminem wrote Lose Yourself on set in between takes. Kim Basinger was perfect in her role, even though Eminem's real mom was not this kind. I can tell this is loosely based on Eminem's life, with some fictional parts. The friends that played Eminem's friends all represented his real life friends. Eminem's ex wife wasn't portrayed in this film. It would have been fire if they started Eminem rap battle in Cleveland and then The Rap Olympics in Los Angeles when he was discovered.

Great film for a rap story.

Second Act (2018)

Hilarious

I was reading a few reviews on here and there is so much J. Lo haters. I thought this film was entertaining and fun. J. Lo nailed her role and the cast was amazing. The film has interesting and real life quotes. I couldn't stop laughing at scenes and without giving spoilers this film is worth a watch. This is a romcom with hilarious lines and scenes. Only J. Lo could make the scenes enjoyable. I think this is one of J. Lo's best projects and of course, she is surrounded by a cast that makes the jokes funnier. This has an unexpected twist I wasn't ready for. I would definitely watch this film again. Thank J. Lo for this project. Well done.

Gone Girl (2014)

Disturbing

The storyline is disturbing and creepy because of the two married couples Nick and Amy. The performance by Ben Affleck and Kim Dickens actually saved this film from disaster. Neil Patrick Harris is an annoying villain that wants to sleep with Amy knowing she's married. Neil can't act and is annoying to watch. This plot was disturbing and why would the woman, Amy frame his husband, Nick for murder? I don't understand. Why wouldn't she just get a divorce, instead of going through all this. At one point Amy says to Desi is it wrong for me to want my husband to go to prison? He responds he should. I didn't understand why he even should go to prison. This was only one of the many things that disturbed me about this film. I thought it was annoying when the police didn't interrogate Amy on her motives and reasons. Without giving away any spoilers Desi and Amy got what they deserved in the end. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. It's disturbing and boring.

Lucky You (2007)

Great Story for Poker and Non-parker Players

Those that enjoy poker and non poker players would love and enjoy this film. Poker Pro Jennifer Harmon should have had a bigger role in this film. It would have been enjoyable to see her at the final table. However, it was entertaining to see poker players, such as Jonny Tran, Doyle Brunson, and of course Harmon. I enjoyed watching Harmon play in the satellite game. I believe she was my favorite character of the film.

How believable is this story. It's about a gambling addict that can't win in the high roller table and still can't beat his father.

Huck grew up in Las Vegas with his dad, so his life was mapped out when he first started playing cards.

Overall, great movie that keeps you engaged throughout the movie.

Gia (1998 TV Movie)

Intense Movie

Angelina was cast perfectly for the role of Gia. Gorgeous, beautiful and sexy for this film. I didn't know what to expect going into this movie, but I enjoy movie's based on true stories and was surprised by how intense she lived her life. This movie pulls you into her world and life where you don't want to miss a scene. The dialogue was exceptional and so was the acting. Angelina owned this movie, like she does with most of her movie's. You just knew Angelina was going to be a star and blow up after watching this movie. You actually felt sorry for Gia the way Angelina and the story line portrayed her life.

I would recommend this for a weekend evening. However, I wouldn't watch this with your kids.

The Great Debaters (2007)

Outstanding film

I didn't know what to expect going into this film and was blown away by this story. I enjoy true stories (biographies) and this didn't disappoint. Besides having Denzel Washington this film is surrounded by young talent. The story line was gritty as it dives deep into racism and included scenes that may not be suitable for children, or those that are sensitive. I like how the film captures young love, jealousy and taking chances. The film puts you into the characters shoes and provides what if scenarios. The film can easily be an open discussion in classrooms, dinner parties and with your friends.

I would recommend this film for a weekend evening.

Red Eye (2005)

All Over The Map

This film was all over the map and horrible. Rachel McAdams owned and carried this movie. Without McAdams this film would receive a 0. Cillian Murphy was pathetic and can't understand him. His performance was horrible. Brian Cox is horrible, even for a small role he had. Overall, this movie was pathetic and unwatchable.

The Firm (1993)

Book is Better

The novel by John Grisham is better than this film. The film moved slowly and wasn't intense as the book. Overall, don't spend any money watching the film if you loved the book...you'll only be disappointed.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Classic!

This is a classic film, only because of Rooney Mara. She gives us a remarkable performance and is lost in her role. Daniel Craig plays his character ok, but can't be compared to Rooney Mara. Hence, all the nominations Rooney received for this film.

Fun Film - Sorkin A Hit

This is a fun film and will be a classic to be watched over the years. Aaron Sorkin another hit! Any documentation films will have some inadequate information in the storyline.

Jesse Eisenburg put in a well deserved performance, along with Rooney Mara.

The Game (1997)

Makes Me Want to Play in This Game

I loved this movie and makes me wish I was playing in The Game. This film takes you on a roller coaster with non stop action and thrillers. The storyline was incredible and clever. The acting was exceptional, especially by Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. Even though Sean has a small role, but his character is important to the film and he nails the role on spot.

I would definitely recommend this film!

House of Cards (2013–2018)

Robin Wright Destroyed this Show

This series was an exceptional political thriller, until Robin Wright destroyed the last season. This series didn't work without Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood. I gave this a 10 for the seasons Frank Underwood was the lead.

The Wizard of Lies (2017 TV Movie)

Unfair to Bernie Madoff

This film depicts Bernie Maddof as a crook and in reality he's not. He was a genius in the market and true pioneer. His son is a coward for committing suicide.

Robert Deniro's performance was the only reason I gave this a 10.

The Skeleton Key (2005)

Understated Film

This film was just as I thought and had gothic style to it to boot. Very gritty film and teaches people about Voodoo. Kate Hudson was amazing in her role, but they should have casted another for the lawyer. Matthew McConaughey would have nailed this role and would have made this film work.

Very enjoyable and intense film...a must see on your bucket list!

Mary Magdalene (2018)

Do they call this a documentary? Seriously? Based on what facts? Since no one was alive to witness this. The film was made by atheists and it's sacrilegious.

The only selling point is Rooney Mara!

Divergent (2014)

One thru Three were Taken?

This film hits home to any futuristic thriller watcher. Smart, gritty and comedical lines, especially, "My name is four. What? Was one through three taken?" and "Maybe you're not Dauntless as you thought?" You're right...I'm Divigent!" The lines and how they were delivered made them work.

This film was better than I thought. Kate Winslet does a great job as a villain.

Taking Lives (2004)

Angelina Jolie Scores Huge

This film was one of Angelina Jolie's one of the best performances ever. She proves she can carry a film by herself and deserves top billing. Jolie once again doesn't disappoint in this crime thriller. The disappointment was Ethan Hawke! This film should have been made with Brad Pitt, instead of Ethan.

Brad Pitt was considered for the role, but had to turn it down because of another project.

I don't post the annoying recaps of the film that we tend to see on here. What is the point of doing this?

Must see film!

The Rock (1996)

Watchable

This film tries to be more than an action thriller, but lacks any surprises to the storyline. The film is predictable, but Nick Cage saves the film. Sean Connery's performance is not one of his best.

The only surprise to this film was Claire Forlani's performance.

Alcatraz is closed but still has electricity and water running. This doesn't make sense.

This film is only watchable and don't expect any surprises.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Very Enjoyable Film

Anne Hathaway made this film a success, despite Meryl Streep's performance. This film teaches us not to sell out in life, as Hathaway's character learns this when she walks away from Streep.

Sandra Bullock was originally cast for this film, but turned down the role as she wanted top billing and her salary demands were too high.

Adriane Grier's performance was lack luster as he should stick with being a fantasy star like he was in Entourage.

Overall, very enjoyable film! Would recommend this film to anyone.

Elysium (I) (2013)

Just Barely Watchable

I tried to get through this film, but found this barely watchable. What was Matt Damon thinking about taking this role? Alice Braga is adorable charming and made this film watchable.

Britney Murphy made this film work and watchable. Adding Ashton Kutcher was a mistake as he is annoying. However Peter's role made this film work, despite Ashton's performance.

Best Con Film Ever

This film is the best con film with a stellar cast ever made. The storyline is enjoyable and the actors are spectacular. The plan to rob three casinos in one night is very enjoyable. The casting is spectacular and makes this film. Why is this film even being compared to the original and calling this a remake? Can't the viewers just relax and enjoy this film? Unless the viewers that are bashing this film I would love to see them make this type of film.

Again, best con film ever made!

Changeling (2008)

Very Disturbing

This is a very dark disturbing film. Angelina Jolie was incredible in her role and made this film watchable...reason for the 10 rating. I can't imagine anyone else playing this character. Don't see this if you're an emotional person.

Kiss the Girls (1997)

Just ok

Usually when Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman team up their films are incredible crime thrillers. This film was just ok, but extremely disappointed with the storyline. This film drags out and could have been so much more. I understand where the writers were going with the film, but just couldn't get there.

Ashley Judd still gives an outstanding performance despite the script.

Along Came a Spider (2001)

Disappointed

This film was one of Morgan Freeman's worst films he made. This crime thriller was predictable and accompanied by a poor script. Morgan Freeman should be disappointed in this project and should have never signed on to make this film. The acting by all cast members were extremely poor.
