Kodachrome (2017)
Great group movie
As many reviews pointed out, this movie has a lot of troupes but while it is pretty cookie cutter it doesn't mean it can't be a great movie. Lots of callbacks to great songs from my childhood, and also good development of the story leads to a great watch regardless of the troupe. Even if you hate troupes I think this movie is good enough to spend about 2 hours on.
All American: Surviving the Times (2021)
Drama sells
Once again an episode with too much drama to properly unravel, all the cast goes through obstacles this episode whether it be together or separately. Not only does this episode end of one of the most obtuse scenes but it makes it even worse with it being so out of nowhere. Only reason i give it a decently high score is because this is what the show sells, drama and that's all it really has to offer but at no special level of story telling.
The Grizzlies (2018)
Excellent exposition, subpar climax
The story does a great job of setting up the story and also does a good job of building the characters up. However towards the midpoint of the story the pace speeds up too much to the point of it being detrimental, obstacles for the team are glossed over too fast for them to be even considered as obstacles at all. Russ apologizing to Zach for not acknowledging his own personal issues and problems last all of 2 minutes to be resolved with a simple "im sorry."
Another obstacle of the funds for their trip falling through is resolved in a small 5 minute speech by the players that carried no real emotion due to the speedy delivery. All in all I believe the film could have easily deserved an 8-9 had these points been flushed out more with the allowance of more time in the film, regardless a film worth watching.
