Toma (2021)
Standing ovations!
As a big fan of foreign films, and a hater of domestic ones (except for a few classics of great directors), I have to admit that I am really thrilled with Toma movie, so much so that I had to write my first review on IMDB.
Namely, from the initial shots it is clear that this is a quality achievement, which will be remembered, both in terms of acting (apart from the main actor, I would especially single out the maestro Peter Bencina), and directing, scenography, costumes, music ... Biographical films have always been my favorite genre, but this one is special because concisely, with a clear narrative and time machine that introduces us to the protagonist in the best way, it tells an extraordinary story about the life of an artist who created and performed songs with his soul, which is a rarity today. It is impossible to watch Toma and not experience at least one of the many strong emotions that the film exudes, I would single out the one in the restaurant Dva jelena with the doctor and his wife as especially touching ...
I would definitely recommend everyone to watch this film, which I believe will enter the race for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Big bravo and I hope that our cinematography will give birth to more masterpieces like this!
