Fallout (2024)
SPECIAL GOAT
This is easily the best video game adaptation ever, but also a really fun show. Captures the essence of the fallout universe. The actors are great and the character development was a lot of fun to watch it unfold. Quirky characters and situations, I could see some of my play through styles in all of the main characters. The evil one, morally ambiguous and the saint.
This show rekindled my love for fallout and I just reinstalled fallout 4 on my Xbox and am finally going to take on all the DLC content.
Only one complaint is that some of the armour and guns looked a bit fake at times but what can you do?
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (2023)
Surprisingly fun comedy
I literally Had no idea this existed, the trailer made me laugh a bit so I watched it and am I ever glad I did. Great lil comedy, there is nothing new to be seen here in terms of plot, but the amateur actors did their best and it has heart.
Good for a rainy afternoon or late night to wind down and turn your brain off.
It reminded me of workaholics a lot which is a criticism I've seen repeated here, but if you like that you're going to have some fun here.
Fun one liners and some random plot twists that are just for fun round out the charm of this fun little movie.
Also Lawrence (I think) killed it.
SAS Rogue Heroes (2022)
Great story with style and substance
Having read the book that this show is based off after watching the first season I was shocked to see how accurate it actually is to the history of this storied regiment. The "love" story was a waste and no where to be found in the original book, that is probably my least favourite part of the show. Given what I read of their campaigns in Italy, France and Germany I would suspect we are In for a great ride over the coming seasons. I really like the style that the writter/director brings. That pesky blinders type period piece with modern music, because these guys were rock and roll type renegades so it fits with the vibe. Here's hoping that Amazon keeps this series going.
Sisu (2022)
Possibly the stupidest movie
But that's not to say it wasn't a blast. Great landscape, and special effects. Let's be honest there's never a moment where you feel bad for the SS in any films, especially in a film where they're portrayed as one dimensional foot soldier on a murderous tear through Europe. To put it in perspective against similar films of its genre ...It lacked the nuance of a John wick film if that says anything. There was a bit of a missed opportunity to make a "realistic" underdog story instead opting for over the top comical invulnerability of the protagonist. It's a check your brain at the concession stand kind of film. Big dumb fun, watch with friends.
The Outpost (2019)
Excellent and underrated
Hadn't heard of this movie until it popped up on my Netflix. It's now one of my top ten war movies. Top 5 for this particular era. Give it a watch and you won't be disappointed.
