Toretto hunting witches
23 February 2024
Your typical witch hunt thriller, you've seen it before and being done better. The plot is a total mess, shallow and cheesy, totaly uninteresting. A good cast supporting the main character that tries to save the movie but cannot. Vin Diesel being as flat as ever, no effort to bring in something unique on the character he plays, the movie might as well be called fast & furious: witchunt, cause it is literally the same thing. Here we got the single dimensional Diesel playing a witch hunter but with the typical Diesel signature shallow macho portrayal.

Tried very hard not to sleep through this one, it's not even good for eating popcorn while you wait to go out.

Not sure if this is what you'd expect to be
7 October 2021
I am sure this was not what I expected it to be. When I hear Steve McQueen, there is one word that comes to mind, that is Bullitt and Le Mans. Other than that, I don't know anything else about McQueen, nor I have watched too many of his films. Bullitt basically means action, means a glorious and long car chase, means Mustang and the Charger that chases it. This film has nothing to do with Bullitt, the movie or the character. This is a rather arty psychological profile of the actor at some point in his career. Now some of you might like it, especially if you are into this kind of film, but if you're expecting a film related to Bullitt, expect to be dissapointed.

Anna Nicole (2007)

Nope not Anna
23 September 2021
I barely know anything about anna Nicole Smith's life apart from the very basics, kinda expected the movie to fill in some gaps with some insights but no. This movie is all 90's corny and shallow. The acting is horrible, the photography is a'la your typical run if the mill TV show and the research work on her life is zero and it shows. The story is full of inconsistencies and for Pete's sake her husband in real life was 100 years older than the guy who portrays him here, I mean really old as in disturbingly huge age difference. Truly bad movie. Don't waste your time on this.

Nobody (I) (2021)

Jimmy McGill got his pistol
17 July 2021
First off you'll see a Bob Odenkirk the way you've never seen him. Especially if you're in Better Call Saul. In thi sone he portrays your average everyday character with a shady and exciting past that is somewhat explained during the course of the film but not entirely. Odenkirk puts action as well as his signature wittiness in creating a multidimensional character that no one wants to wake up. It is not your typical action movie as the main hero is bad-ass but not invulnerable. Christopher Lloyd is as adorable as ever and he really seems to enjoy the works, as well as the rest of the crew. Cracking movie and an absolute must see, especially for fans of Breaking Bad , Better Call Saul fans.

Rogue (I) (2020)

Noble concept for a movie, horrible execution
3 July 2021
I loved the idea of portraying the wild animal cruelty going on in Africa that this film is trying to put across, it is just very very very badly done. One can definitely watch all of it, but it is a waste of time really.

Meagan Fox is a goddess and here proves that she can act too. Plus she's an eye candy in this one with combat gear and weapons.

The movie is suffering from a very bad plot and storyline, there's no proper build-up, no character background explanation, nothing. The characters are mainly random filler persons that are all over the place with very little or no actual value to the main story. Story-telling wise, the whole thing is a total mess, highly unrealistic and it is difficult to make any sense. For example the team contacts the mission's HQ in order to be extracted and the reply to that is that they have to remain in the farm till the morning for no reason, other than they always send the main character to the toughest missions. Seriously now? Oh! We'll take a good night's sleep now and we'll come pick you guys up in the morning, You can do it now can't you?

The action scenes are horrible, airsoft combat videos on youtube have better tactical action. Enemies spawn endlessly from nowhere like in video games, highly unrealistic situations, the absence of a decent tactical/combat consultant is highly evident. To top it off we got a lioness who makes an appearance whenever convenient and then by magic disappears for some minutes till she decides to come by again.

The CGI is pretty BAD. I mean c'mon this is 2021 not 2000! The beast's animation is amateur grade to say the least, crappy textures, crappy modelling that exaggerates the animal form ridiculously.

With half the budget and a stronger plot and better organized screenplay it could have been an ace movie.

Maybe it would be a good idea for M. J. Basset to stick to something like farming pigeons or snails or something and stay away from making crap movies? I dunno, I watched this on Amazon prime for free and I'm glad it was for free as I would be extrmely pissed off if I payed to watch trash like that.

I want my time back
2 July 2021
Why did I ever spend two of my precious free time hours to watch this is beyond me. This is the worst crap I watched in a long time. True to Netflix's legacy another piece of crap in their portfolio, They make so many bad productions I am wondering how they still keep going on.

Burning question number one: Who on earth gave the money for this thing to happen?? Who on earth read that script and said ok here you go take my 70 millions and make it happen??? And why?? WHY???

Let's put it simply: Acting? The worst ever!! The characters are totally unlikeable and without any real meaning. The plot is a huge gap from the beginning to the end and full of "wtf happened now" moments that it's insane. This is truly garbage that should never have been released. If there's anything on earth that this movie will be remembered for that is how to waste 70 millions of dollars. The visuals with the retro lenses are too blurry and out of place. I cannot believe that Snyder wrote this a decade ago and ten years after they made it into a movie. It should remain as toilet paper as it was.

The only good thing is the makeup and prosthetics of the zombies, outstanding work there, which honestly, the insanely bad efforts from everyone else involved in the movie is an insult to those people.

The Voices (2014)

Surprisingly good
1 July 2021
Well this one turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I did not expect much of this film, yet it is brilliant. Ryan Raynolds really nails the character being likeable and a charming yet very disturbed and odd personality that turns out so dark and sinister. And the animal's voices are a work of art too. The story is balanced and builds up very well , I particularly liked the portrayals between meditated reality and non meditated delusional phase, also the background of the character comes out pretty well without following a resume pattern.

It is definitely not a classic blood-gore and gloomy horror movie, it is more of a psychological portrayal of the mind of a disturbed guy.

Definitely worth your time, especially if you like Ryan Reynolds, this a shining gem of his acting.

Dredd (2012)

Yes Sir, this is Dredd!
30 June 2021
This movie totally nails the Brit-comic superhero in every aspect. The plot is gorgeous, ultra dystopian and very much along the line of the comic series. The slow-mo effects give another dimension the action sequences, but gets a bit repetitive in the end and Urban's acting leaves nothing to be missed! The man is truly Dredd and you can clearly see Carlo Ezquerra's graphic representation of Dredd in Urban's lower face! The scenery and props are all well made, not entirely faithful to the comic (the lawgiver - gun and lawmaster - bike are not comic based designs), but instead some tasteful visual interpretation that does not disappoint.

Also Olivia Thirlby does terrific job as Judge Andersson and the chemistry between her and Dredd builds a strong base for the movie. To top it all, Lana Headey plays a wonderful villain and her acting brings true dimension to her role.

The ending of the movie does not come in line with the frenetic pace of the whole movie and the climax drops terribly in the last few minutes and leaves a lot to be desired.

Overall it is a well researched and exceptionally well performed movie, it is faithful to the comic and fans of Judge Dredd will love it. To me as a fan of the comic, this movie is a direct hit and a huge favorite!
