A Free Bird (2014)
Enjoyed it
The acting was good. The main character and his "friend" Jimmy were very good. Also, shot well, clean set-ups and motivations. Maybe a bit repetitive, but it did not stop it from being entertaining. I liked the simple story, it allowed for character development and for comic situations with out getting complicated. I saw it on Youtube. Funny at times and I enjoyed it! I am a filmmaker and know how hard it is to pull off a low budget feature film. These guys did it. So, pop open a beer, sit back and don't take it at all serious and I think you have a good time watching this lesser known comedy film.
La Charada Teatro - Puppeteers in Guatemala (2020)
Beautiful Documentary From Guatemala!
I really enjoyed this film. The two puppeteers are such joyful and engaging people. It is also very interesting to have a behind the scenes view into what goes into making a puppet show. These are artists hand making their craft. And the kids are great! It is in Spanish but I had no problem reading the subtitles and a lot of it is visual. Perfect for kids and adults.
4 O'Clock (2021)
Godard Meets Ed Wood
This movie is a riot, a subtle riot, but a riot nevertheless. I laughed the whole time! Very silly and goofy as to the dialogue and acting and story, but rather sophisticated when it comes to the black and white aesthetic. Godard meets Ed Wood in this spy spoof. I really love the music and the editing too. Ready for a labyrinth through a campy, new wave NYC? This one is for you!
Bird in the Sky (2006)
AMAZING SMALL MOVIE!
Very emotional and real. Touches on the debate of good and evil. Loved the NYC street vibe. The actors are truly great. I was captivated from beginning to end. Left me feeling disturbed and inspired. Loved it!
Maximón: santo o diablo (2014)
Wow! What an amazing subject!
This documentary is captivating. I never knew about this Guatemalan figure before. It is a bit scary and makes you believe in magic. The Guatemalan people are also amazing! Good movie!
Pink Hill (2019)
A beautiful CULT FILM
It's hard to review this film. It seems to be outside of the idea of good or bad in the same way an Ed Wood movie is. Another reviewer mentioned Cult Film, I will go with that...also someone on another site said, "SLACKER horror film".
It is a small, handmade kinda movie. Still, I liked it. Just go in knowing it is not a normal type of movie. It is weird, I'm not sure it meant to be weird, but it is. The acting seemed odd at first, but then I found it funny and engaging. The whole thing is slow and kinda creeps up on ya. I got caught up in the characters. I gave it a high star rating because it was just so different, and we need films that step outside the norm.
Anyway, give it watch.
