Once upon a time in Tollywood
Its similar to "Once upon a time in Hollywood" but the twist is it is Tollywood. Its Puri sir loveletter to cinema makers , cinema goers fans and their obsessions and also personal lives of film maniacs.( Being, Indian film its underated in India while " Outih " was hit in India )
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
DEPENDS ON PLAYER!!
So first things first the players who played previous one may not like it because killing a favorite guy is not a fan might expect. So if you look it from a fan POV it is not a game you or any fan expects. Its way more about questioning, empathizing and understanding characters and their motivations. But rather than that we almost like to see about 80% of what we presume about story in the game because it feels good to see as audience and fans. But we don't have any right to control them, only the creators have the rights and its creators wish to say a story in a way they like to say.
Coming to the game, If you play whole game and you think its about revenge you are unable to catch the inner meaning of a game.
Its a game about forgiving.
The game always lets you be in shoes of Ellie and understand them through her perspective, even the playthrough as Abby you feel and understand their groups' emotions from the perspective of Ellie sub consciously. The game is like saying to a person that something happened and you did a fault out of anger first we don't agree with it but as you try to understand them you will forgive them and eventually ending up in forgiving yourselves. The game works on that tone. Even Neil Druckman knew what all the hurdles the game will face while devoloping it.
Let's try to understand the core of a game. The game uses non- chronological path to tell an emotionally linear parts of game.
The Ellie's main catalyst Killing Joel, so Ellie hunts them and through the process this story things go out of her hands
On first day game will give more freedom and honestly we just track them and kill only one by mistake and at the end of the day when she meets with the barrier, Dina's pregnancy.
This will increase the obsession because we knew that the things are not right with Joel and when finally she tries to forgive him after party and the next day he is dead in front of her eyes and she was unable to save him. Their father-daughter bond just started to heal and now her father figure is dead. (This could be understood only through second playthrough). These emotions increase the selfblame anf obsession to kill that person.
In order to experience the obsession from Second day , the combat and environment intenses.
On third day, she is obsessed to an extent such that she risks the safety of Dina and chance to save Tommy and tries to manipulate Jessie even for that reason and her only aim is killing Abby! She realizes how much obsessed she is until she kill a pregnant woman.
So if the game ends here just by killing Abby the fans would have been satisfied but it is not deserving sequel no true to the soul of TLOU (Itd just naughty dog playing safe as usual ).
So now the game resets and now it tries to show the reason to kill Joel and how kind abby and her group were and how close she was with her dad. Her relationship with Owen
But Abby's quest for revenge ruins her childhood, her relationship with owen and how she always wanted to train inorder to hunt down Joel. Her nightmares, her bad dreams and scares. A girl so driven with revenge finally and accidentally srumblrs upon Joel and here is the part. It was her and Owen who joined WLF leaving fireflies and they never felt its their home. Now its Abby, Owen and group certainly all are the people with same humanity levels of Ellie until they are disturbed by HOSPITAL INCIDENT in first game. So in order to lose her whole revenge from childhood she brutally beats and kills Joel. This is questioned by everyone on group throughout the three days.
The aftereffects of the incident is clearly understood through the dialogue that they wanted to kill Joel for what he done to fireflies but not like this and abby also knows that and it is understood from the look on her face immediately after she kills Joel.
So the abby and group are now trying to leave the incident and trying to move on and in the way they are Abby meets Lev and Owen realizes that he don't want to kill anymore because he wanted to be a firefly.
Abby tries to slowly realizes her fault that what an impact she created beacuse of her revenge and how she lost her humanity and ahe wants to correct it by saving Lev and Yara, but eventually yara dies and aldo her friends
So for just killing one Joel we killed Owen, Mel, Nora, and so on. So Jessie is dead beacuse of their fault instead of killing Abby they killed whole group.
So the final showdown happen and Abby has upperhand and since she is in her path of forgiving herself she forgives Ellie, Dina and Tommy and leaves then. So this her arc of regaining her humanity and kindness.
But after Ellie returns, she has baby she was not able to give up on her past because of hert yet to heal relationship ship, brutal deaths and high amounts of obsession she suffers from PTSD so she hunts Abby and fighrs with her beca.
