Community: Remedial Chaos Theory (2011)
The PERFECT episode of Community
This episode is the reason why Community is one of the most innovative and genius sitcoms of our time.
This show isn't perfect; some characters aren't washed out enough, the way the show progresses is very unorthodox, and at times, certain plot points don't hit hard enough - but this episode hones in on everything that Dan Harmon intended to create. It was witty, funny, smart, sad, complicated, amusing and above all, fabulous!
Chris McKenna and Jeff Melman wrote and directed the hell out of this episode; the way the episode reaches its climax is quite sad, and I think showcases what one of the main characters needs to do to provide change and longevity to the group. With that being said, it was just marvellous! The concept of it, all the different timelines, and the jokes just kept coming and coming, and made me belly laugh multiple times.
Jeff, Troy, Abed, Pierce, Britta, Shirley, Annie, thank you for giving us all sublime performances and thank you to the cast and crew for creating this wonderful show, and genius episode.
Moon Knight (2022)
Marvel's new stylish and sexy superhero show
Moon Knight doubles down on all the dark, mystery, and grit that the fans have been waiting for.
It's filled with twists, turns, and tear jerking moments, whilst showcasing they can still make excellent television, without any of their 'classic' approaches.
Moon Knight: The Tomb (2022)
A standout episode, but it's not perfect...
Whilst I think Oscar Issac is playing one of his best roles yet, I can't help to think of the way the show is paced.
Whilst the lack of information works for a short amount of time, we still don't know crucial aspects of the show, such as why Konshu negatively affected Arthur.
I also don't think the female lead is as strongly written, which is common amongst Marvel media.
Even though these things remain a strong issue for me, you can't not love Oscar Issac in this show. He is absolutely fantastic.
Moon Knight: Summon the Suit (2022)
A breath of fresh air
The entire team over at Moon Knight deserve a round of applause.
With fantastic scripts, gorgeous visuals and a masterful display of acting by Oscar Issac, this MCU show has the potential to become one of the best.
Moon Knight: The Goldfish Problem (2022)
A powerful start for Marvel's new psychological thriller
Fantastic first episode. Cleverly shot, an intricate plot that keeps you guessing, and Oscar Issac dances his way through, in this new Marvel psychological thriller. He's charismatic, charming, and I can't wait to see how this venture turns out.
The Batman (2022)
Fresh, gorgeous, and innovative.
A breath of fresh air; Matt Reeves delivers one of the best Superhero movies yet. With gorgeous visuals, superb acting, and an excellent villain, The Batman earns its extended runtime by giving the audience an unforgettable experience.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
An absolute home run.
Bigger, bolder, and more dangerous, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a rare sequel that works even better than the first instalment. Unpredictable, emotional, and a can't miss post credits scene.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
A Fantastic Addition to the MCU
With some of the best fighting sequences in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an engaging plot, and an introduction of some new characters, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a great addition to the MCU and builds upon the excellent foundation that was put in place.
The Sopranos: The Blue Comet (2007)
I am not ready for this to end...
The credits music was the cherry on top.
I cannot believe this show is ending.
I love this show, I think it surpasses every show on TV.
The build up, the loss of our beloves characters, the pacing, it's perfect.
The Sopranos: Walk Like a Man (2007)
The tragic tale of Christopher Moltisanti...
Him and Jesse from Breaking Bad play very similar roles.
They have the potential to change, but in their envrioment, they never will.
Strong dialouge, beautiful acting. Terrance Winter is one of the greatest.
The Sopranos: Stage 5 (2007)
I mean come on...
Absolute perfection.
Terrance Winter is one of the greatest writers to walk this earth.
I mean, WOW!
What fantastic dialouge. Little Carmine's monolouge was amazing.
This second half of season's aim is clear. With the Tony and Bobby talking about death in the previous episode, to Johnny Sack's, and finally, Gerry being brutally murdered, Death is coming to all of our beloved characters.
That final scene with Phil... Goosebumps.
As George Martin says, 'Winter is coming'.
The Sopranos: Soprano Home Movies (2007)
They've done it again.
In my opinion, I don't think Matthew Weiner has been an all star when it comes to writing... until now.
My god, what an episode.
This episode is a showcase of WHY The Sopranos trumps all, especially when it comes to dialouge. So realistic, so imperfect, so beautiful (with a touch of heartbreak at the end too).
I also LOVED how the house stayed stuck to Tony's face after the fight, representing his obsession with his childhood/home.
So many gems in this episode. My god.
The Sopranos: Kaisha (2006)
What a tease....
Did anyone else feel like Christopher was ABOUT to get shot in this episode??!!
That episode's ending was too optimistic; a calm before the storm. I don't trust The Sopranos like that haha.
Something's brewing, and I know it's going to be tough to watch, but hey, let's enjoy it while it lasts huh?
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Great Job! Squid Game for life!
Squid Game offers a breath of fresh air into 2021's drama/thrillers.
With unpredictable twists around every corner, excellent acting and writing, this show is taking the world by storm - and for a good reason.
The Sopranos: Cold Stones (2006)
A Perfect Episode
I mean really, I don't have anything to criticise.
So many callbacks and references to Tony's coma and Carm in Paris. The lighthouse, the white outfits, really reminded me of heaven. Will Carm die? I god damn hope not.
Vito... It was bound to happen. It's war between Phil and Tony, which is a shame, but wow. When Phil came out of the closet (also, hilarious and genius writing), that was epic.
Tony's relationship with AJ is also entertaining, especially his scene in the garage. So badass.
An Adriana flashback too? I wonder what that meant. I think Carm knows something isn't right. After nearly losing Tony, she's slightly cynical about her life, shown when she asks Ro about losing a husband and a son.
The one thing I'm excited to see is more of the Kevin Finnerty storyline and callbacks to the coma because that was something special.
This is The Sopranos at its best. A perfect blend between crime, and drama.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Last Day Pt 2 (2021)
One of the best sitcoms of the 21st century is over
And what an ending.
A fantastic sendoff to all of our beloved characters.
NINE NINE!!!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Game of Boyles (2021)
Back to basics.
Brooklyn 99 is back to its root, and we're loving it.
Finally, an episode with plenty of humour, and Charles being the star.
Wonderful.
The Sopranos: The Ride (2006)
A stand out episode in The Sopranos
Hot damn.
Drug addiction is no joke kids, and neither is relapsing, which Terrance Winter does a masterful job of representing. The cinematography of it all was also absolutely fantastic.
The bromance between Tony and Christopher also had me teary-eyed. What a beautiful friendship.
Dr. Melfi is an excellent therapist. I think Tony is bored. I always wondered, however, is Kevin Finnerty in Tony Soprano? That plotline was amazing, but I wonder if it will link back to it in the future.
And poor Paulie, I hope he's ok.
Janice and Bobby's kid is definitely a Soprano; she wanted to go back to the dangerous ride lol.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Set Up (2021)
In the wrong direction again
Whilst PB & J was one step forward, this episode was two steps back.
Again with the blurred lines and confusing plotline.
Brooklyn 99 has a gay police captain, two latina women, one of which is bisexual. They have tackled real world issues before, but one episode in a blue moon, whilst still retaining humour and characters we adore.
But this whole new police union story arc and lack of jokes, we lose the magic of what makes this show so special. This isn't a plot line I'm enjoying or appreciating.
I love the show and always will and appreciate all the cast members and crew, but I'm not enjoying a chunk of this season.
I hope it returns back to form before the finale.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: PB&J (2021)
TIGERS AND TOUCS!!
Well done B99!
A fantastic return to form after a rough start to S8.
Perfectly exectued. Well done.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Good Ones (2021)
Yea, I see why this episode is under a lot of critisism.
Too political and one dimensional.
I don't think some of the characters were in the wrong and they framed them to be, but that's not how these discussions are handeled best.
Complex issues require multiple perspectives and cooperation, and I found that this episode didn't do it well.
At least they tried.
The Sopranos: Johnny Cakes (2006)
Dialouge at its finest
In this episode, written by Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, we get a beautiful showcase of how glorious the dialogue of The Sopranos is.
So many parallels in this episode; all of our protagonists are facing inner conflict and change. Vito's homosexuality (which is executed flawlessly), AJ's lifestyle and attempt to murder his Uncle, and Tony with his philandering.
The small details are appreciated also. Tony and AJ's similar clothing style, the scenes with Dr. Melfi, and Tony's interaction with AJ outside the police station.
And above all, there's still time for humour.
"Did you hear? A goddamn juice place moving in here."
"What Jews?"
I HAD to rewind and play that again, that was brilliant.
The Sopranos: Luxury Lounge (2006)
Christopher is back with the celebrities!!
We saw Michael Imperioli's encounter with Jon Favreau in Season 2, and here we see him with Ben Kingsley. Some pretty exciting televison.
Great storylines as well. Artie and Christopher acted their ASSES off here. You feel so much sympthay for them both.
Matthew Weiner is great when it comes to these character development episodes, but I felt like this one was one of the weaker ones.
Regardless, I enjoyed myself.
The Sopranos: Live Free or Die (2006)
They've done it again.
As the introduction of Sopranos was playing, I was looking at the executive producers and writers. I thought to myself, 'Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess haven't written an episode in a long time', and then what do you know? They are writing the episode WITH David Chase AND Tim Van Patten.
That's the dream team.
I believe this episode showcases EXACTLY why The Sopranos is one of the greatest shows of all time. The funny, clever dialouge, the harsh, complex physochological side of humans, and the accessibility of the show.
Tony's mini monolouge filled with cynicism (at Dr. Melfi's office), Vito's storyline, Meadow's character arc, it all ties up beautifully.
'Let's take this in the back.'
'Yeah, that's what Vito did!'
Fantastic.
The Sopranos: Mr. & Mrs. John Sacrimoni Request (2006)
Buscemi Strikes Again!!
Let's not forget the legend Terrance Winter too.
A wonderfully deep and complex episode, showcasing Tony's power struggle, the fall of Johnny Sack, and Vito's homosexual hidings.
Great episode all round; it's so heartwarming seeing all the characters together in one place. I worry for Tony though, meaningless violence can only send you downhill. That being said, what other choice does he have?
Fantastic writing and great direction. Buscemi applying his signiture shots (the final scenes of the episode especially) and his witty sense of humour.
